For me, some of the most heartbreaking photos came out of Brownsville when they were breaking up Cabot/Dedalo. I was little (about 8-9) at the time and didn't grasp the significance until years later. Terribly sad.

I'll be sure to post some pics of the dio, along with some pics of USS America wip and some other stuff too. :thumbs_up_1:

Let me put it to ya this way, from 1969 to '72 I use to sit along side the Golden Gate Bridge and watch her returning to Alameda then meet the ship at the pier. I went on the open house a few times too since my uncle Ernie was the Helmsman. I was 11 or so when I took the photo while in Long Beach.

So Whif it! Whif it good!! :heh:

The last bit of that was inspired by a small trace ammount of Nitrous Oxide still in my system (yay for heavy mucous production trapping the stuff in my system for long term) after a dental appointment that morning. Combined with being overly tired.

But yeah, come on Ave, whif that puppy within an inch of its life. You know you want to! Join the Dark Side, we have cookies!

Nice pic but, I thought all carriers had gone to outlined deck numbers by mid 80's...
And do I see an Iwo Jima Class in there too?
Eddie after looking more carefully at this photo i just realised i also have ICRWSWAITMN syndrome.

That is I Cant Remember Which Ships Were Active In The Mid Nineties.

Knox with BPDMS and CFA class were gone by then.

Here's few things...
Last US CFA was USS Goldsborough DDG-20 decommed 29 Apr 1993

Last Aussie one was HMAS Brisbane DDG-41 decommed 19 Oct 2001

Last German one was Ltjens D185 decommed 18 December 2003

Transferred ones USS BERKELEY DDG-15 (DDG 221 Themistocles) Decommissioned from Hellenic Navy on 7/29/2002.
USS JOSEPH STRAUSS DDG-16 (DDG 220 Formion) Decommissioned from Hellenic Navy on 2/18/2002.

Knox is quite a long list from what I understand.

Here's some pics of my Sprucan dio. Sorry about the quality, didn't have the time to take pics out doors. But a promise is a promise...

No dio base yet, but it will be a fairly simple job.

USS RICHARD E BYRD DDG-23: Sold to Greece. Used from spare parts. Sunk as target 6/19/2003.

This sounds similar to my desire for a 1/700 collection of postwar USN "One of Each Class". I'm starting with the destroyers frigates and destroyer escorts, then the cruisers, amphibs, then carriers.
