a little more progress on the funnel.i made the bracing for under the decks and a few other details ,piping and stuff.on the upper platform there will also be 4 search lights, two 20m.m guns, and the braces for the mast, and railings.also there are ladders to put on.

Hi Russ Very nice work indeed. I used a similar method for the Funnel casing on Tirpitz. When bonding the styrene to the timber I used R-C modellers glue, which is a superb adhesive for the job. Question what type of adhesive are you using for the same process. At one point I made a mistake and tried to remove the styrene thinking that it would peel off quite easily, I was wrong; it actually peeled off the tope surface of the timber. This proved to me that it was the right material for the job and I have used it ever since.

thanks for the comments richard and dave. dave the glue i use is Lapages contact cement.once it is applyed it take about 1/2 hour to dry then one can stick the parts together.on larger areas i lay paper over the one side and start at one end applying the 2 pieces together then sliding the paper out as i work along.the glue only sticks to it self.if you don't and half way along things are not lined up ,it is tits up,you will not be able to peel it back.

well i have made the 4 search lights for the funnel platform.for the main body i used styrene tube wrapped in thin groved copper sheet,i tryed casting them but they came out as bloobs and destroyed the mould so i built the 4 one at a time.

the last things for the funnel is ladders, railings and 20m.m's. For the 20's I used the small end of chop sticks to make the middle part of the base and styrene that i punched out with my old leather punch.i used the wooden chop sticks because i have no way to make tappered things, barrels are 37m.m' i had kicking around, perfect for 20 m.m'.so the material used is wood, brass, copper and styrene.here's some pics.

hello all,it's been a while since i've used my air bruch,so i painted the tower structures ,funnel ,and small guns, colour is medium sea gray.my gun is a single action paashe,i used a #5 tip.every time i fire it up it takes forever to get the paint to flow i even thin the paint future,i have to turn the pressure up .once it starts to flow i can then turn it down to about 10 or 15 lbs.

Been following this build for a while.
Great job there Russ! Love those search lights as well. Not sure whether you should leave them unpainted or not. Your paint work looks nice enough! :thumbs_up_1: Can't wait to see an overview of your work!
