Mitch,
I have been kind of watching from afar. If I understand, correctly, you are converting a WWII Iowa Class to a modernized version in 1/700? I'm curious as to why you wouldn't use an already modernized Iowa Class kit like Trumpeter, Skywave, or Tamiya?
In any case, GO FOR IT! I'll be eager to see how it goes.
I made two Skywave/Trumpeter Iowa's. I wasn't very satisfied with how the first Trumpeter model came out, so I built another from a Skywave kit and added the bottom hull from the Trumpeter kit. The two kits are about 99% the same.
I further detailed and modified the second model to more accurately portray BB-61. I hope that the photos in my MWS Gallery of this second Iowa can help you as a reference for your build.

There are many in-progress photos on my photobucket.com page.......

First things first you need to do, likely, is to take the whole Bofors platform, level it up, flatten it off, extend it off and make your midships Tomahawk Platform. The Bofors platform is roughly the location, but the width is narrower, Mitch. I'm sure you've been looking over the images and stuff - I suggest you buy stock in Evergreen, you'll need a LOT of sheet to build this puppy up into a full-blown Modernized Strike Iowa.

Is 2mm thick plastic good to?
I got 3 sheets of that from 50cm long, and 20cm wide..
And yeah i knew about the mid section.
But is there a hole in the wall from the back section.
Where the gunrange stuff it?
It looks on some pictures, that theres a platform where u can stand.
And some pics show me nothing exept a new roof.
Im 1st getting alot of information clear.

Gentlemen have a look at this....
Absolutely stunning PE set for WW II U.S. carriers. Several of the aircraft carrier logistic vehicles can be used for modern carriers too.
Now maybe we should ask them to do something similar for modern carriers too.
This is the link where they present their product:

Did some work on the Abukuma class. Hopefully i ll finish all four of them by this weekend. Now only some minor details need corrections, PE radar and some decals have to be added.
After i finish the Abukuma class i ll have just three ships on my slipway.
Now what s wrong with me ????
