Ha, thanks for the honor of being the top of the CVN psychosis group, which I am happy to see is growing all the time lately. I would love the company in the CVN loony bin! When I complete the Lincoln, I have a couple more down the line for commission and myself, that will put me at 8 of em. I guess once I get to that point, I should just go ahead and build 2 more to complete every ship in the class.

Those GHQ weapons are great if you don't mind a bunch of clean up. The sparrows are the nicest, as you well know. The only ones I was unable to make use of were the sidewinders on the hornet's wingtips, that is where the oversize of the weapons was just too obvious.

Yeah, the Sparrows should be pretty easy to mount and look good as I've cleaned up one already. The sidewinders I think will be okay for the hardpoint. It doesn't throw off the visual as much as the wingtip of a Hornet where you could really tell the difference.

I thought about those but they are just too out of scale IMO

The sparrows will definitely work, the AIM-9's are the ones in question. Like I said, they may work better for the Cats since they sit on the shoulder rails instead of the wingtips (where the white of the missile body blends in with the body).

The "Launch Cat" is the test bed, so we'll see. Hopefully the PE set for the F-14's from WEM arrives today to find out.

Alrighty. "Launch Cat" my F-14 testbed is done. Pretty happy with the AIM-7 and 9's. Getting them fitted to the PE shoulder points was a pain in the butt.

The Cats are definitely the most difficult, well the VF-84 Cats I should say due to all the colors involved. The Black Aces should be fairly easy given their total FGG color scheme.

One of the things I really like about the WEM PE set is the nose gear piece for a Cat in launch configuration, i.e. hunkered down and ready to go. The Mains' outer doors and shoulder rails really bring the look of the Tomcat together.

I would just like to call some small attention to the fact that the tomcat James linked to in the foreground is that of my good friend CDR Emory Brown. He was the CO of VF-84 in '79-81 timeframe. Earned the distinguished flying cross (DFC) in Vietnam (for a mission that I can guarantee would raise hairs on the necks of the saltiest piolets around), and was a major player in the development of the tomcat, including calling attention to the initial faulty engines.

Ok, off my soapbox, I just feel I have to do my part to keep this legacy alive.

Ryan, thanks to you and my endeavors researching the Nimitz, I have discovered, regrettably late, one of the greatest fighter pilots CDR Emory Brown. He belongs among the greats like Cunningham, Olds, Ritchie and the list goes on. Would love to meet him. Oh, and I knew Ryan would recognize that Tomcat.
