Thanks, Nektarios - it's Six Colour Swiss Alpenflage - I have a set of fatigues in the pattern, so I could match up the colours easily enough, and figure out the layers to work in rather easily. I have a 5/0 brush, rather tiny, for detail work like that.

Nektarios, that's a lot of LEDs... building in 1/350 does have its advantages...the hangar looks awesome!

As for my well deck and hangar, I will have to ask around.
I worked a bit more on the deck and found out that if I stick with the bulbs that I have, I definitely need to use something to dim the brightness. One single bulb seems to give the perfect shade but I need at least two for both sides since I'd like the light to emerge from the same places as in the original.

hey guys, "oh joy" about to do flight deck decals. it says "use a slotter to push down on decal when placed." what's a slotter?

I think that was supposed to be "blotter". A paper towel works fine, tho I tend not to bother. Mainly because once I get the decal where I want it, touching it (with anything) tends to move it out of position. If you've got a large puddle of water around the decal once it's in place, just touch the surface of it with the corner of a paper towel, which'll soak up most of it.

Here is some progress done on the helicopters and two of the four LCACs included in the kit.

It seems that everyday this forum loggs me out, even whit the button stay logged in pressed.

That is because he SH-60s belong to the navy and the helocopters to the army.

The answer, Mitch, why he painted the CH-47's with brown/green camo instead of white, would be that the aircraft, by contrast to the others, will be operating Amphibiously, in support of landings, and as such would be better served by the brown/green camo - white camo works fine over water, but over land, you stand out like a sore thumb. Not good when you're transporting equipment.

Nektarios, the birds and the LCAC's look awesome, great job! I'll have a couple pics of the Barclay later today, now that there's been some major work done.

Simon i believe that white isn t that good for the sea Its Hi-viz camo. I guess that the JMSDF still uses it because of tradition or because they undertake rescue missions around the Japanese islands. I can t find another logical explanation for this.

Probably for both of the purposes you defined - they use them for SAR and it's probably a standing tradition with the JMSDF to use the white birds.

I was able to get some work done this weekend. I have on plea to Starfighter decals and their CVN-71 set. Please include a square patch say about 1cm of the color blue for the VF-213 Last Flightbird. I am have trouble matching it for the canopy frame. Otherwise I love them. Here are some pics for the work completed this weekend.

John, she looks awesome, and the two with the special markings make it so much cooler too. Extra coolness with the high vis markings on the birds.

Alright, as promised, pictures of the progress so far on the USS Charles J Barclay, DD-922. The guns are probably a subtle thing to notice, but they are, so far, the current change to the layout on this ship overall. If I can get a pair of Hedgehogs, I'll be cooking with gas, because I want to put those on the front rise.

John, that looks fantastic!!

For those markings that don't quite fit right on 213's retro jet, you could always opt to paint the light blue on the skunk stripe and tails. I had to look it up over at Aircraft Resource Center (knew I'd seen it somewhere), but apparently Model Master Ford Engine Block Blue is a very good match, as is French Blue (lightened with a little bit of white).
