Looks absolutely fantastic! :thumbs_up_1: You know that because of you and your builds my to-do list keeps getting longer?

Victor III is an older OOP DML kit. It comes in the box with British SSBN HMS Revenge. You can find this kit on ebay.

Now that you mentioned it, I think I've seen that kit before. Neat little sub the Victor III is... thanks Nektarios!

I've done some more work on the well deck this weekend and managed to finish the walls, ceiling and ramp. This evening I tried out some lighting scenarios. The following pics are taken with different exposure times, hence the differences. The actual light is a bit dimmer than in picture one. Picture two is with a bit more exposure time and picture three with some background lighting.

You can see straight into the bulb because I didn't add any diffuser yet. I was just toying around with possible spots where the bulbs could be attached. What do you guys think?

1/800 USS Kitty Hawk(Academy) Complete, without flight deck planes or water yet.

it looks much better in person, and you can clearly distinguish the planes and the red glow, the camera just doesnt seem to pick it up. it's subtle, but i guess for the small scale, and first time hangar deck try, it's ok. your guys hanger decks are sick. :)

p.s. phones, pen and cell phone added to show how friggin small this thing is. lol.

i think that is rediculous. great job.

I think the diffuser will help spread the light around a little, Orb - aside from that she looks good.

Megadeth - the lighting isn't as spread out as you need, and I think the intensity is what's causing the lighting overall to suffer. Additionally, the sensitivity on the camera was likely not enough to show the lighting well - see the different picture with extended exposure that Orb posted - see if you can get it to do that and it will help you get a better image for posting. The blister bulbs should help you with coverage.

I think it looks very good. Photos always just reveal a part of the job done. I m sure it looks much more impressive in reality.

It looks very, very nice Orb! I'll have to do it now... What material did you use? Just LEDs, resistors, wire and a battery? Thanks again for sharing this technique Orb and Megadeth,

Arnaud

Hi guys and thanks! Nektarios, I actually think the pictures look better than the real thing because of the exposure times...but I'm working on that  I'll be picking up some more green bulbs and then we'll see.

Megadeth, that's a good looking carrier! Just like Simon said, you could try to a longer exposure time, I think I used 1.5-2 secs. I'd also love to see just how much light you can get into your hangar with your method :thumbs_up_1:

Arnaud, I'm not using a battery. I thought of having one power source for all "future ships with hangars". So I have a transformer and attached a distributor to it. That thing is small enough and is going into the hull because all the wires for the bulbs go into it. The plan is to have just one wire sticking out from the underside which can then be attached to another distributor so I can switch on all the ships' lights with one switch...well, that's the theory :) I don't have a picture right now but I'll post one when I do.

Of course, to note, I reviewed the pictures another time, and I realized - we haven't actually gotten any nice close up pictures of the hangar bay so we can see the lighting levels on the inside. Go dark, light 'er up, and take a few shots inside the hangar doors, so we can get an idea of the level of dispersion around the hangar bay and give you better suggestions, Megadeth.

Of course, now I'm tempted to do a little electrical work on my Shinano, having populated the hangar decks in places one can see. Nah, I'm not gonna do that, she's already well under construction, and her hangar's full length. It'd be a right pain to light up the forward hangar especially, unless I turned the elevator bay or the passage to the aft hangar into the lighting points. It'd just be a problem to fish the wire from where I'd consider the battery storage through to the forward elevator. She's too far gone now, not a chance.

thanks for the tips guys. i will try the longer exposure if this camera has such a feature. i also removed the tomcat from the front left, it allows more light to hit rest of bay now.

longer exposure should be in the menu, and the exposure isn't as important, for demonstrative purposes, as the perspective - we didn't really see inside the hangar, so we can't help you with how much light you're needing in which places.

Rearranged a couple bow antennas, and made slight adjustments to the bay elevators(they were sagging a bit)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/s ... 1/kit9.jpg

when it gets dark tonight, i will experiment with camera for longer exposure.

that's the problem with mine. the flight deck is superglued on now. there will be no improvements made at this point lol. however, i did move the LED to that opening on the starboard side and aimed it as far upwards towards the foil as i could. i should have just stuck the LED to the bottom of the flight deck.....hmmmm i might have to "rip off' the flight deck somehow..... F*** why didnt i think of that before!! stupid pete.

well, i tried, the FD is bonded, there's no way that's coming off. learn by experience i guess. i still have the 1/800 Eisenhower next when i finish the kitty hawk, so i'll do it then.

the surrounding foil helps to distribute the light, but you can still see the source blatantly off to the left bay door. it still looks cool, but when i do my eisenhower next, i will attach LEDs to the underside of the flight deck and call it a day. that seems to be the best solution, as you guys do with your 1/350's i compensate by using the flight deck of 1/800. i'm also going to do the eisenhower with green lighting. thanks for all the tips guys, now to do the rest of the 40 deck planes and make water.

The problem is the camera is focusing on the outside and you are trying to shoot inside. If you have a macro mode, try that. If not then manual focus might work.

One of the benefits of having good friends on this message board is that they are very helpful when its needed.

A good example is John W. Currie he helped me fullfil one of the four models i always wished i could get my hands on. Today i recieved a DML Delta III which he bought for me on ebay as i couldn t since it was available only for the U.S.

As i m very lucky uring the last months one of my other modelling dreams is about to come true I found an Arsenalship and bought it.

So two out of four modelling dreams is something very good.

Photos of Delta III will follow in a short time. :wave_1:

Happy modelling.
