the surrounding foil helps to distribute the light, but you can still see the source blatantly off to the left bay door. it still looks cool, but when i do my eisenhower next, i will attach LEDs to the underside of the flight deck and call it a day. that seems to be the best solution, as you guys do with your 1/350's i compensate by using the flight deck of 1/800. i'm also going to do the eisenhower with green lighting. thanks for all the tips guys, now to do the rest of the 40 deck planes and make water.

Ah, if they were only in focus! Just like Nektarios and Cadman said, either try the macro mode or move back a little, that should help. But from what I can tell, the first two pictures actually look pretty good (light distribution and all) but in the others you can tell where the light source is. It's a shame you already glued the flightdeck, perhaps if you had another LED from the opposite side? But then again you might flood the hangar with too much light. No chance to remove the flightdeck without tearing the ship apart? You could experiment a little more and get an even better result...

That's great to hear! I agree, both of you have always been very helpful Ok, I'm curious. What are the other two models that are missing in your collection? Perhaps I can keep my eyes open for them on ebay as well...

The other thought would be to try and pry the deck off at the key weakpoints, and then use a shim to space it out and stress joins so they release. Look for the points where structure is strong but the join is weak, like the tip of the bow. If you can get something in there, and lift, she should release easier. I won't go into camera, as the boys have already covered it.

Congrats on getting the Delta III Nektarios, looking forward to that. I'll probably add a few more subs eventually, but for now I'm surface focused. Also congrats on the Arsenal Ship, hope to see some good work in that respect.

I've also had great help with some of my contacts who are on the board, like Distant Thunder, who helped me secure an Aoshima Nagato when they were on sale (might still be) for criminally low prices over at Freetime.

The other two are:
JSP U.S.S. Oriskany (of course at a reasonable price)
and a Delta IV from a Japanese resin company.

Thanks Simon. Of course as you understand the Arsenal Ship will be a major project in which i ll try to add as much weaponry as possible. I ll make my Arsenal Ship unbeatable unless there is somewhere a Chelsea Ship.

John i ve had some other good news. A friend of mine that promised me to find one Delta III for me finally found it. Guess who will get a Delta III in the next days ???

and some Spanish decals too....

So you're going to beef up your Arsenal ship with even more firepower... my Mo's still got the lead on that, she's packing a missile battery sizable, six 5/54 mk45's, and nine 16/55's on the pure offensive firepower alone. Looking forward to seeing your boosted equipment stack though.

guys thanks for the info, i will look for "macro mode" cause yest i think the sucker is focusing on the hangar bay doors over the objects inside. i have completed halfg my airwing today. tomorrow i will finish the rest, i trully think this is the best piece of work i have ever done. it's just like riding a bike. the more you do the better you get. i look at this model and i am beyond proud. what an amazing hobby, amazing community, we all know what it's all about. this sense of accomplishment is close to hitting a grand slam int he world series(ie paulie konerko). when i am done with my airwing, i willl finish the water and you will see a beautiful USS Kitty Hawk!

As with most submarines in 1/700, Nektarios, it seems that your Delta III has gone together with rather alarming speed. Looking forward to more updates.

Simon, I was just looking at the collection of pictures you have online, pretty neat stuff! I was just wondering, with what program are they created?

Ah, the line art section of my profile? Paint Shop Pro, combined with the materials presented at Shipbucket. That's where I get all my stuff to build from, they're composite images, and then from there I sometimes add my own scratch spots in places.

True, submarine building programmes are just that quick.

John, his yard's slow like a WW2 Shimakaze running full tilt on her boilers. I don't think he's got any defence cuts.

By contrast, my navy's got budget cuts, but we've still got a budget for refits, and the air force has a few new projects to be tabled. Mostly Fighter and Strategic Air assets, there's some Tac Air assets on the acquisitions. The Navy's got heavy warships still in on the table, and the coming budget's looking like expanded air assets and expanded supply of guns.

Very nice Delta III Nektarios. No Defence cuts here I tell ya!
