Many thanks for the superlatives guys, much appreciated!
But luckily I can see plenty of room for improvement still, especially in construction and research, and especially when comparing with some other fantastic builders on this forum. Well, no model is ever perfect, nor should it be!
Cheers,
Marijn

That is magnificent work, particularly in 1:700.
It's not just the scope and quantity of all the little sailors, its the high quality of finshing of the figures and the aircraft and other details. This is some of the best modelling I've ever seen in this scale.

This is really fabulous. You've taken the modelers art to a completely new level.

The term "museum quality" is frequently over used, however in this instance it is wholly appropriate.

Many thanks for the more than kind words guys!
But it's not finished yet...
KJ Kim wrote:I can't imagin how much time you put into this diorama.
So far 1 year and 4 months. I hope to finish it in about one month from now. For a diorama like this, I think that's not too bad for a married guy with a full-time job and 3 small children...
Cheers,
Marijn

When I saw hundreds of figures in a box in one of your earlier pictures I already tried to imagine how they would look populating the decks - but reality proved to be much beyond my expectations. Months of hard work seem to pay off in a scene that is breathtaking in its realistic appearance and so complex that one could watch it for hours and would still discover new details!

Many thanks George!
I hope you described a good definition of a good diorama.
Meanwhile, I painted the seascape.
But white foamy water has not been done yet. There won't be that much of it as the ships are lying still in the water, but it will still add more life to the seascape.
Morris is also not fixed yet. I will do that only after attaching lines to the sides of Lexington and adding part of the small boats and swimming figures in the water.
Cheers,
Marijn

Hello Marijn,
Master Modeler.
Absolutely stunning, and not even finished.
This historic scene belongs to a museum.

Well well well...

Marjin: on your last picture the 47th figure starting form the left wears an improper uniform and the 79th has a wrong trouser....
Just kidding

, what else could I say about this marvel?
Hope to see it in Telford...

In French all is said when you hear "Oh la la!" and that's it, absolutely thrilling and not a single lady in the crew! Cheers and applause!
