1/350 Tamiya New Tool Yamato, continued: I have installed most of the railings and awning stanchions. I still have to touch up the glue spots and paint around those areas. I have also installed most of the remaining AA guns. Just the single mounts remain.

Has anyone seen a pair of eyeballs rolling around on the floor? They have brown irises...

1/350 Yamato, continued: I added the main turrets, catapults and aircraft along with various odds and ends. Almost done. Just a few things left.

Magnificent work! Those insulators on the rigging are fantastic.

Looks like Joe's efforts were worth it, as he took a first place in his category, Best Ship and Judges Best in Show at the recent Madison Region 5 Model Contest/Convention show, put on by the Mad City Modelers.

Really nice, extremely detailed and realistic reproduction of the ship. I like the absence of weathering and the museum-style approach. Sometimes, indeed, the weathering covers mistakes and lack of detail. It is quite difficult to achieve such kind of result!!! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Time to wrap up my Yamato build thread. Here are some final pictures with it mounted to the base. The case is from Grandpa's Cabinets. Thank you all for encouraging me on this long journey!

1,708 days between your first post and your last. Awesome, awesome work Joe. Can't wait to see her in person in Omaha later this year.

Thank you Martin! It took 2050 hours! The kit had a lot of seams in complicated areas. I way underestimated the amount of work Yamato required. The AA guns ate a lot of time.
