Trouble is i've finished the base and suddenly hit one of those modelers black holes where the will to build disappears.

Will most probably take a month or two to clear while i paint some miniatures. This happens occassionally
I hate those kind of blocks, hopefully you will come out of it soon because its a great looking build so far!
I m in the same kind of block right now. After experiencing in the last week the horrible fires in most of my country i suddenly don t feel like building something. I m not even in a mood to post photos. These kind of things show me and everybody what is really important in life. I m one of the lucky ones I m not affected me or any member of my family but its really discouraging to see people losing everything they have and sometimes even their lives.

Some photos of LPH-12 configured as MCS-12. The kit is the old Pitroad one. One thing missing is MH-53s. Unfortunately no company produces real MH-53s in 1/700.

I like that kit, I did the Inchon in a dio with some of JAGS Gators. I like the fact you decide to do it as the MCS. Looks nice, Currently I am working on two MHC's that would go really well with it...

Nice to see you post again, hope all is well

All is well John,
thanks for asking. Your gator dio is great. I wanted to do a dio with an MCS and the two types of minesweepers/minehunters in service with U.S. Navy. I d like to see some photos of your MHCs in progress.

Here is where I am currently, The mast was bend and the reel for the forward cable was beat up as well. So I decide to use plastic stock to re create them. Actual many of the parts on the resin tree were broken. Considering this is the only current option right now, I cannot complain though. I wish someone would decide to make a set of Minesweepers as well.

Well, as far as minesweepers are concerned, here is my current proyect:
SPS M 22 "Ebro", a wooden minesweeper of the MSC-268 class, built for the Spanish Armada by Bellinghan Shipyards, Washington back in 1957. She was retired only a couple of years ago.

Looks great. What kit did you use for conversion? Are you currently building any other kits?

Thanks Nektarios. My little "Ebro" is a kitbash of the japanese minesweeper "Hatsushima", included as a goody in the Skywave "Yugumo" kit.

In fact, the japanese ship is quite bigger than the spanish (ex-american) one, so mayor surgery was needed.

Ill post pictures of the finished model as soon as I can.
And, yes, post war navy in 1/700 is one of my main interests, specially spanish subjets. Hope to post pics of other builds as well.

Regards.

Can't wait to see more photos of your work Sparrow. Spanish subjects are always very interesting. I wish we could see some company produce an F-100 frigate and Principe De Asturias in 1/700.

Thanks Nektarios. Ive been following this thread for a while and thougt it was time to contribute a bit.

Some of my models are in the gallery, but here are some pics of my spanish escorts. Hope you like them.

Image
D 61 Churruca, ex Eugene A. Greene, a Gearing FRAM I destroyer, built out of the excellent JAG kit

Image
F 72 Andaluca. A kitbash of the AFV Knox class kit.

Image
F 81 Santa Mara. Out of the Fujimi Long Hull OHP kit.

Image
F 35 Cazadora. Scratchbuilt.

Image
F 103 Blas de Lezo. Scratchbuilt.

There are good chances we can see both Prncipe de Asturias and lvaro de Bazn being issued by resin companies in the near future.

Those interested in 1/700 Minesweepers, what kind? Mid '50s MSOs or newer vessels? I'd like to see earlier MSOs, they were very cool looking ships!

They all are excellent. I m planning to do the a Gearing and an Allen M. Sumner as Hellenic Navy ships.
Your Andalucia and Santa Maria are great but Cazadora and Blas De Lezo are superb.

Sparrow what plans did you use to scratchbuild your F-100 class ship?

Nice bit of scratchbuilding Sparrow. I'm hard at it myself with the 1/350 USS Merrimack (Scaling up JAG's Cimarron). I'm taking a few liberties here and there as it's my first time. Slightly easier Stern curve and square angled funnel, but it looks ok ! :wave_1:

A fellow Spanish Navy Board member sent me a quite good set of plans.
I can send them to you if you are interested. Just drop me a PM with your e-mail.

Anyway, there is a good chance we can get a commercial resin model of Bazn class frigates relatively soon. Just cross fingers! ;)

Liberty is in the very root of any form of art, Simon. And I suppose scratchbuilding can be considered some sort or art, or so.
:)

Anyway I usually take TONS of liberty when I sracthbuild... er... or when I simply build, hehe.
