You may use SH-2, SH-3 or SH-60 helicopters for Iowa class battleships.

Thanks Nektarios, so far she looks good, I'm going to keep a few of the smaller guns for anti-boat defences, I might put one down on the lower deck as well. I'll probably measure and cut the VLS cells for the aft block today to give her a few features. I have to figure out where I'm going to get my barrels for my CIWS mounts, and I'll probably use wire to form the radars for the CIWS units.

Nektarios, I just received the package you sent me.

What an awesome surprise! Thanks for the LCAC and the other LCs but the Type 022 is definitely the icing on the cake

I will be able to use everything you sent me and I will definitely have to put the FAC to water as soon as I find some time. Should make a nice little diorama. Thanks again!
Simon, Kongo's looking good so far, the beefed up version should be promising!
Sauragnmon wrote:Heiko - an Akula's nice streamlined bridge and hull would look good in the crash-surface dio, so long as you managed to measure the angle perfectly so she pulls off the look just right as she tears free of the water at top speed.
I agree, an Akula should be perfect for the job. Only now I have to find another one. The Typhoons and the Akulas to me seem to be the ones that are hardest to find.
Sauragnmon wrote:Heiko, or others who are wanting light tinting, this stuff might be of help. I saw it mentioned over at What If, and thought I'd share it here.

Flourescent tinted translucent acrylic rod, includes flexible design, could have some interesting uses.
Thanks for that link! That sounds interesting, although I have to admit that I'm not quite sure how it functions. No electrical power? The light is 'collected' and bundled at the end, it says, but how should that work if the entire thing is, say, inside a closed and dark hull. Maybe I'm missing something?

The Kongo Upgrade version, I'm bouncing around the idea of two SAM mounts of lighter systems on the old upper AA platforms on the turrets - B and Y in this case, which would provide nice wide area coverage.
Heiko, the rods react with light in the area, collecting and dispersing it through the rod. In the context of an enclosed area, yes, using an extra light source would be importantly necessary, but in this case, you could do something like build a back wall in the position, fix the rod in place, run it through the bulkheads, and have your LED in the place behind the backwall, a reflector setup to amplify the ambient light produced off the bulb and direct it towards the rod which would then refract the light, ostensibly, down the whole length, providing the neon light effect. It's quite an interesting stuff, and I was pleased to find it in raw rod format - I used to have the stuff in lego sets of mine, and thought it was wicked awesome when I was a kid.

In terms of light dispersion, that sounds nearly perfect. But then again, before I would buy something like that, I'd have to see how it actually looks in reality and I doubt that I'll be able to find the exact same thing here to test it, so I'll stick with my...2-4 green bulbs (still haven't found time to actually experiment around) for now. But now that you described the actual process of those things, I'll ask around and see if I can perhaps find at least something similar in that small size.

Unfortunately the only available radar in this scale is the one on this set.

Well, the GMM one is certainly the only one in the scale that looks decent, but the 1/542 Revell Forrestal and Saratoga kits do come with a very crude SPS-49. Maybe one could be robbed from a spare kit, or used as a guide to scratchbuild one...

SPS-49 is indeed the 1 i need.
But... The 1/545 revell saratoga kit doesnt have it.
*edit* i found it...
*edit 2* dont got it double :S
Somebody here that can make 2 out of 1?

Bit of an odd question, but it pertains to my Kongo BCG build particularly right now, and I'm trying to sort it out - With the Mk13 GMLS, I'm trying to figure out - does the whole base rotate with regards to the launcher, or just the portion that mounts the launcher, and is then in that respect the rest of the raised base just a magazine cover for the loading system?

Its just the portion that mounts the launcher.

Alright, that pretty much clarifies it - John and I talked over it too, and we clarified the thoughts. I was looking in reference mostly to the Kongo BCG, which I've gotten to some progress on - I've got the flight deck in place now, just have to build the sidewalls in place. I set the height of the deck 1/8" above the X turret - there's only a small bit that stands higher than the deck height, so that should render it functionally good. I'm not sure how I'll do the hangar, as space seems to be a bit short between the bridge and the flight deck - I might do an extending hangar concept, or I might leave it Iowa-style with just a landing pad. I'm not sure right now, but I'll revisit the situation when I get there - I might do a split stack flanking the hangar either side. I'll have to visit the design of the Spruance aft section or something and make considerations from there.

This is something i worked on today Trujmpeter Minsk.
The hull and flight deck have been painted and i added some decals too. Too bad they were fragile and partially disintegrated. Hopefully after the flight deck gets its punishment (weathering) the problem will be hidden.

And another thing i forgot to mention is that i m building on commission for a friend some Indian Navy MiG-29Ks
He even managed to find Indian Navy decals.
I still have a lot of work to do on the planes since these custom made decals must be cut like the Starfighter decals and placed with extreme caution on the aircraft. Otherwise they will break up.
Happy modelling.

Very nice Nektarios, I like the Indian Migs
Did you paint the Minsk markings or did you use the decals? If so how are they? (I read somewhere else they are terrible but if you did use them they look good).
Now I think everybody in the forum can breeze again, Nektarios-the-slow-builder actually built a carrier over the week, he was just doing it in secret

I didn t build it i just did some work on it. I do this occasionally.
I start building a kit assemble some parts and then put it back in its box.
This week i have also started:
Essex class SCB-125 kit by Ships & Co. (not decided yet which of the three carriers i will represent)
DML CV-31 Korean war
DML CV-36 first Angled Deck Essex.
DML CV-37 as ASW carrier.
DML LPH-5 1962 Cuban missile crisis.
I haven t done too much work on them. but its a start.
I 'm thinking to add lights inside the hangar bay of all Essex class carriers. They have so many hangar openings that lots of detail can be added and it will be visible once the hangar is closed. Of course all will be in dioramas either in port or underway.
The trumpy decals were not very good. If i knew i would have handled them in a different way. I had to weather Minsk's flightdeck to make it look better.
Here are some pics.

Nektarios.
Just a question...
Is the deck from the rocketsystems in front of the landing deck higher then the angled landing deck from the minsk?
I wanna buy 1 kit, and make it the jump carrier that india is making.
(actually goshkov to-mini kuznetsov

)
I have finally found and shop in the netherlands, that sells alot.
