Bought the Fujimi Super Yamato (A-150) in 1/700 along with a Gold Medal PE set for Yamato/Musashi. I'm thinking of naming it the Togo (although Atragon was a close contender ) and it'll occupy a shelf spot next to the USS Montana and Battlecruiser Amagi as the "what if" fleet.

Hello there everyone,

Do you mind if I ask a few questions about the new Skulski book? Any help would be appreciated. I love the book but I feel that there is some sloppy work involved with the production. Some 2d Drawings feel like pasted photocopies with dirt and a lot of the better details of the 1st edition (catapults) have been shrunk to grainy Dot Matrix copies to fit the page. Did we really need an entire page of silhouettes to see how 5 Pete aircraft were stored in the lower deck?

Sorry I'm a bit cranky about that stuff.

My questions if you can, on page 114, Section B1/66 there seem to be frame indicated for the 1st 6m of the ship, Frames A, B, C, D and E but I have not located them in the book. Were they omitted or supposed to be self developed? There is a half frame on Page 110 but that's all I see.

At bottom of page on left when adding new post is a box and it says 'choose file'.

Click on that then choose photo from whatever file it is on your computer, or wherever it is.

Once file for uploading is choosen then just to right is a box with 'add the file'.

Click that box and file is added to your post and then click 'submit' and abracdabra file is uploaded with / into your post.

Easy peasy. -;)

very well moulded, crisp and tidy, great hull and deck planking.............but those small cranes along the side of the hull are too large in scale

it reminds me of the Hasegawa new tool yamato, lovely hull and deck and this makes me want to build another Hasegawa kit............. to get the rigging more accurate this time, unfinished business.........because i couldn't redo the rigging on mine, i broke the mast and it wont handle any more work, so it's a new kit !

1/350 Kits?

I'm looking to restart my Yamato project and curious about the current kits on the market. I have the old Tamiya 78002 and I know there's now Tamiya 78030 (Basic Kit) and 78025 (Super Kit). So where does the 78002 fall in the mix? I actually plan to make a "concept" Yamato so I'll be cutting and stretching the hull which means I'll likely buy another kit so as to have adequate parts required. Once I buy a second kit, the 78002 will most likely be relegated to the donor kit.

I should mention I also have the Lion Roar Set (LS350003) and White Ensign Ultimate Set (PE3528) as well as several Veteran Models upgrades (Type 96/Type 89/ Search Lights, etc.).

With all that said, is the $250-$300 (78025 version) really worth the 2.5 - 3 times the cost of 78030?

78030 is just a repop of the original 78002 kit with slightly new boxart (not even the art itself, just the label). You can see a video unboxing of 78030 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csRlcQaUhxc

78025, on the other hand, is a completely new mold, reflecting new details and accuracy.

Gents, no doubt some (many?) have seen these before but as I don't have the book I hadn't, so posting here just in case some others haven't either.

They are courtesy of one Sandy McAuslan from over here = http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/s ... st10171905 and the post contained the following wording. (So I put my hand up for a copy and he kindly obliged.)

"I own a copy of Naval Vessels 1887-1945 Mitsubishi Zosen Built published by Nippon Kobo Co. Ltd.. They built Musashi and there is a significant body of data from Mr Shizo Fukui including an approx. A4 set of drawings with a profile and three horizontal sections of Musashi at levels of Upper Deck, Lower deck and 2nd Hold. I will attempt a scan of these if you are still interested.

I suspect the system was flexible - guns could be assigned to various directors as the situation dictated. On the main and secondary batteries this would be done through a plotting room.
