Here s a photo of my two AOE-425 Mashu class ships. The building process is slow because of lack of photos. I also have found that i need to scratchbuild some parts in order to complete them.

I am admiring all of your builds, lately! These last two AOEs are going to be really nice! The Essex carrier and LHD are excellent, as well!

Thanks Carl, These two AOEs are among the most modern UNREP ships afloat they even have stealthy characteristics.

I just added the parts that were not included in the kit and the UNREP hoses from brass wire.





I will add later the inclined ladders and add the rest of the rails.

Superb builds

I have been waiting for pictures on your Mashu class ships. I think they look great!

Well, I've been busy, working off and on with the four ships of my ROJN fleet's Escorts. I got launchers and radars in place, guns and torpedo launchers mounted, it's coming together well. I devised a good, interesting 5" single mount for the ASuW Abukuma variant, puttied the 10cm twin mount on the AAW Abukuma, Torpedo and CIWS mountings are done on the Sawakaze, and the Mk29 launcher and new FCR's are in place on the Shirane. I should have some polishing done before some pics tonight for you guys.

Alright, as promised, here are the pictures of the latest work on the ROJN Ships. First up, Sawakaze - you can see in the pictures her structure, new torpedo racks, and her 138 cells of VLS, as well as the new standard CIWS:








Now, Shirane, with her small progress:






Finally, the Abukumas - Oyodo and Sendai. Oyodo first, showing off her twin 10cm gun - yes, the barrels are bulky and heavy, water-cooled guns are like that.



Now Sendai showing off her torpedo launchers - I was going to show her gun, but the camera card got full.

Whiffing - definitely not something I'd be good at I don't think. But I must say, that looks pretty cool indeed!

First, gentlemen - thanks for the comments, they really help fuel my desire to continue. It's nice to know there's appreciation for my ship whif's out here.

Now for a slight change of pace - I've had this little one on the shelf for a bit, and dusted her off last night - I had to putty the nose (the weight kinda caused her nose to scrunch - don't use putty for nose ballast) and smooth her out, but that said, the paint's the new piece, all done today. The plan, as you might guess, is to do her in RCN Colours - this pretty little scooter's going to be a Bonnie Bird, the way they should have been (damn beancounters). PICS!

Well, so far so good - I drew the paint scheme for the scooter from the Banshees that served on Bonnie - I know, the blue isn't perfect with regards to the tail flash, but it's a new paint, so it's a little thinner in places. The underwing stores will be a little sparse, I'm without pylons, so I'm going to hang a pair of Bullpups under the wings, and a fuselage tank.

Another great whiffing idea Simon. Looks like you re a very quick builder too.

Well, I did get all that build in one day, short of the canopy, but I can't take full credit - the kit's a very simple one, and the stores options are precisely none but wing tanks - I actually used one of the tank halves to create the dorsal hump. I had to shelf it for a week or so because I wanted the putty to fully set that I had used for the noseweight - hoping as I did that it would settle fine without and deformation to the plastic. When I took her down, I had to PSR the nose to smooth it back out, you can see the results, I think it went well. All yesterday was the paintwork, all hand paint, no masking. I can't take full credit for the idea, as the A-4 was actually what the RCN wanted after they retired the Banshee, but they were refused by the beancounters, which led to the era where the Bonnie was nothing but a CVK/CVS and that continued right up to her retirement. The Markings I referenced off one of the surviving banshees - they have a couple walkarounds of her on ARC - that's actually stored not far from here, in the Canadian Aviation Museum up in Ottawa (I've been there a few times).

indeed, John, very much a what could have been - if it hadn't been for the anal retentive budget boys, we could have had a lot of interesting aircraft in Canada, and I plan on doing a few of them eventually - the scooter's just the first, as a buddy sent it to me cheap.
