So... I have a bit of a dilemma here... I got replacements for some parts from DML, namely a Spruance Sprue D - the VLS. However, they also sent Sprue B to me, so I now have this whole Spruance Superstructure, minus the helipad area, and no hull to fit it to. I'm entertaining suggestions on how to confront this - it would be such a shame to not be able to put this to use...

Could you use a scavenged USS Chandler (Kidd Class) kit? The hull and deck are still in it; the helo deck, too. I've only used a couple of upper superstructure pieces from it, to supplement the partial kit that I received from Nektarios.

I still have some detail paint, decals, rails and rigging to do on this one.

Yeah, I could use what pieces of the A Sprue have survived, if you've got them, Karl. Coincidentally, the universe provides. The only other thought I had, was considering if I could do something to turn the hangar into use for a Tone or Mogami CGH conversion, I was drawing blanks as to what I was going to do with her.

Yesterday i received the package i received from gtb-red the ship looks fantastic. But it has been badly damaged because of the trip. I ll try to see if i can repair it.

Nektarios - that sucks, man, it always sucks when something in transit gets damaged.

Please post some pics and let's see how bad she was damaged. My Ranger sustained some minor damage in crossing the bay...

I think i have saved the ship gtb most of the damage is fixed.

Thanks for your interest Eddie i will post pics tomorrow or aftertomorrow when the ship will be fully repaired.

gtb i need to know what colour did you use for the hull.

Alright, got a couple new projects in the pipe, and wouldn't mind concept ideas bouncing around for what I can do with them, here goes:

Kitech 1/800 CVN-73 - I want to bring her equipment up to 1/700, and basically turn her into a somewhat smaller Carrier concept, so I'm entertaining ideas. Top of my mind is the thought of doing her in Canuck colours to go with a modified Type 42 under Canuck Flag, not sure of the airwing in planning, as the planes that came with are relative Crap for detail. I Might give her a skijump nose off a 1/720 Kuznetsov I have sitting in bits.

Airfix 1/600 HMS Fearless - obviously going to change her nationality, entertaining ideas on what to do for fittings and equipment or modifications. ROJN is one thought, or Canadian is another.

DML 1/700 (approx) USS Saipan - again, entertaining ideas on what to do with her, all thoughts welcome.

Simon one idea is that you could convert U.S.S. Saipan to a Sea Control Ship.

Here are a couple of photos of the two Mashu class AOEs. I still need to add a few rails and they ll be almost finished. I need to get some PE nets for all my surface ships so the ship will be missing these for a couple of weeks until i get them.

My next build will be some S-3 aircraft and another replenishment ship Berezina.

Yeah, I could do the SCS concept, once I look it up a little. I have to waterline that one, the CVN-73 and the Fearless so they fit with the Rest of my collection, unless I do the CVN and put it up by my computer as a display-piece kind of deal on the stand. I seriously want to do that one up as a RCN CV/N I think. I'd need to get some spare RIM-7's maybe or something... I'm not sure just yet where the idea will take me, and it'll likely be a while before I do that.

Nektarios, those looks really nice! Once you finish them, could you post a few 'in UNREP action' pictures?


Guys, this might be a long shot, but I was wondering if any of you might have any information about naval bases in Scandinavia. In a month I'll be going on a road trip up to the North Cape and was thinking about visiting some bases on the way. I already checked most internet sites but that didn't get me very far.

In Copenhagen, I'll take a look at the Holmen base which luckily is open to the public. Now comes the big question. Travelling through Sweden, I'm thinking about taking a look at the Karlskrona base. But since driving there would be quite a detour from our actual route, it would be great to perhaps get some information as to how accessible it is (probably not) but maybe if there is a good opportunity to get a few good pictures at least. Still not sure whether it's worth taking that big of a detour. However, I'd really love to see the Visby up close. On our way back through Norway we'll pass Bergen anyway, so I'll see just how close I can get to the ships at dock there. Perhaps see a Fridtjof Nansen or Skjold?

Any information or advice is very much appreciated. Perhaps I'll also just send the guys at the base an email...that might be interesting

I have waterlined Fearless and i ve done the same with an Arii carrier Midway. It was not too hard to do. If you need any weapons for this the carrier kit just let me know.
