What does your wife think about all that, if you are married? I think mine would be going nuts!

My wife actually buys me kits and supports my addiction. At least here she can keep an eye on me and my younger son works with me on his projects. I'm a lucky dude!

this is my clutterd up retreat from the vacum cleaner the wife is always running around the house.the only trouble is my computer is in another room.

You guy's have so much ships and models stored, i can see that you all are professionals.
I only got 6 kits, and soon 7.
And only a small workbench, and not even a decent airbrush
Now i see how you guys can work so professional.
I even see a glass thing that enlarges everything.

Anyway my work shop has ghone from 2meter X 1 meter, to like 60 cm X 30 cm
Just because i trew my computer on the only spot it could be, and make models >.<

My wife says the only thing missing is a cash register. I actually have an antique Coke machine which dispenses beer in the other room! Of course, I don't get much "good" work done when I pop a top.

This is why I bought the house I did - it had a 12 x 30 shed.

The hull in the back is the 1;36 Sloop-of-War Constellation. The next project is on the wall; 1:35 scale HMS Macedonian

The rest is chaos!

In searching for a different work bench, I came across this ingenious piece of furniture. It could have a lot of potential to be converted for ship modeling and especially anyone with limited space.

That is similar to something I built many years ago. Only mine was a concealed model RR layout. When you opened the doors the table would fold out. I didn't have room for a big layout so I built a foldaway one. I dismantled it years ago when I moved into this house as I now have plenty of room for a model RR. But I have always wanted to make another one with a more finished appearance.

And I hate all of you for that.

I'm very pleased with my new set up (since moving in fall 2008). The two tables allow more space to work on bigger models and also more space to keep works-in-progress.

On the south side of the room where I have my "traditional" workbench, I set up a small table dedicated to paper models





However, I have warships resting everywhere; those are just in front of me now

Today I received a new piece of furniture in order to display my models and provide me more room... So this is the new look of my workbench...

My place is very limited, and the display is fairly messy, so here it is: As you might be able to see, I am a very rounded modeller, but prefer ships.

What a great idea. I wish I could find a few of those bookcases with the glass doors. My Grandpa was an attorney and had many of them for his law books. Too bad we didn't see the value in them then.

Hi ya Guys:

Here are two shots of my workshop...after years of being in the dinning room or den and having the wife complain about the mess or paint and glue smells, I finally got my own place.
This is a Tuff Shed 12 X 10 Barn style. More than enough room and with a loft to store even more kits. And living in So. Cal, it never gets that cold, so just a small space heater works well in winter and summer rolls around, just open up the big door and window and I am all set to model away. Add the music and a small cooler and I am all set.

My office at home has to double as my model room... But it does the job. Just tidied it up a little this evening...



I have a tall built in cabinet that holds all my unbuilt and semi-completed models, plus all my toold, plastic card, brass sheet and rods, paints, glues and so on. It looks really tidy when all the drawers and doors are closed....



But when you open anything....!



Think I need to tidy the cupboards too...
