I take Timmy's point about lowering the angle and if I use the balsa plane I would get away with thinner wire and bring it a bit closer to the stern.
Grr...

j/k!
It was me!!!
Sorry TImmy, shold have typed an I instead of O, slip of of the finger as they are next to each other on the keyboard.
Having read a few of the comments on the, ALL DANGLING DANCING CORSAIR, I have decided to knock it in the head. So just aircraft on the deck will be displayed instead.
Apparently whilst sailing last Sunday, one or two Dragonflies did a spectacular landing on the flight deck, whilst doing a 180 degree turn. Who need's planes coming into land, when I have the Blue Dragonfly Squadron to perform these manouvers in real flight.

Hi guy's, I spent the morning, rummaging at a car boot sale and managed to pick up enough small cars to make my landing gear for the Corsair's & Hurricanes. Total cost for the lot, 50 pence, ( about 30 cents US ).
The first job was to break open the cars, to get the wheel sets out. This was a simple job using a screwdriver to force open the small rivets, holding the body to the chassis.
Once this had been done, I ended up with two pairs of wheels on their thin wire axle. This was ideal, for what I did next. I first bent the ends of the axles at right angles, so that the wheels were nice and tight against the axle ends.
I then cut the axle in half, so that I had two independent half axles, each with a wheel.
Then I cut two short lengths of fine copper tube and slipped these over each half axle and superglued them in position.
I then took one of the planes and drilled a very small hole about 2 mm deep into each under wing, using the folding wheel cover pattern on the wing as a guide as to where to drill the hole. Then the two copper tubes were glued into position at a slight angle, to get the desired position.
Here is one of the finished planes, complete with it's landing gear. All that is required to finish the job, is to attach a flap faring for the leg and a dab of black paint.
They are slightly over scale, but will have to do for now, until I can find some slightly smaller wheels.
Work is still continuing on the Gallery Decks and I should get this job finished by Tuesday.
Enjoy.

Yes I know they are a bit too large, but I have got some smaller ones for the Corsairs, so next week, I will see if I can find some more for the Hurricanes. I will only need a couple of small cars, which will give four pairs of wheels, enough to swap those I have fitted.

Okay, time for a quickie update on what's been happening with the Vic.
I have now finished off putting in the side and rear bulkheads to all the Gallery Decks, although these now need fitting out with various fittings.
Note that I have also repainted the decks with a darker shade of green, as well as the decks on the superstructure. This is about the right colour.
Next, I fitted the Cable Deck and added the various deck fittings. I found out that this deck was in fact wooden, so I added planking, by scribing on the planks with a fine pencil, then varnished over with matt varnish, I think you will agree, that the result it quite convincing. Besides, this deck lies beneath the flight deck, so not much of it will be seen except through the gallery openings.
I have now started work on planking the Quarter Deck and for this I am using real planking. As you can see, the outer coaming strips have been fitted, along with the rear bulkhead and several planks are laid and some ready for laying.
I have also started putting the wheels on the aircraft and this time I am using some smaller wheels. These look much better than the Monster Truck effect, from the first ones fitted.
If you look at this photo, you can see the difference. The plane in the foreground has the smaller wheels and shorter legs, whilst the other has the Monster wheels and legs that were too long. The plane now sits much lower and is quite effective.
And finally, after scrapping the dancing dangling Corsair on the long piece of rod, I opted for this pose instead. The Corsair this time is suspended just above the deck on a short rod and it looks more realistic from a side view. I have yet to fit the hook, which is lowered to catchthe plane on the Arrestor Wires, which will be fitted across the flight deck.
Enjoy

Looking great
The smaller wheels do really make a difference. i personally never would have thought of using toy car wheels for landing gear.

I just need to get some more this weekend, as I am four pairs short for all my planes ( 12 in all ).
The actual tyres on the wheels need painting matt black, which will resemble rubber much better that the shiny black plastic.
Yes Ron, the Cable Deck has come out quite reasonable, considering it was only scribed on plywood. I hope to get the Quarter Deck finished by tomorrow, then I can start adding the Pom Pom guns, drectors and searchlights to the Port side and finish off some of the flight deck edging.
The front Aircraft Lift needs doing and some work on the flight deck and superstructure and I think she will be far enough looking the part, ready for July 2nd.
After that, I will lay her up for a while and get the Marlborough back in the dry dock. Poor old girl is looking very neglected, sitting on the shelf, it's time she was brought out into the lime light again.

Hey Victorious! Glad to see not everyone decided to hibernate like me! Outstanding progress, bet you get the neighbours peering over the fence!
Our local council have kindly dug a lake just down the road so I thought I ought to show my appreciation and get on and build something to sail on it!

Nice to see you back Middle, I thought you had dissapeared for ever.
I should have some more updates for about Friday, just before she goes to sea again on Sunday. Just a matter of doing a few odd jobs to get her looking the part. Then more work after the event, to complete her.

You have been busy! Been catching up on the posts. Interesting about the catapult, I had it in mind the catapult and the angled deck came about at the same time, but then I was never a carrier man, I used to get airsick looking down off the Triumph in Chatham!
Measuring up my new workshop this weekend, only two more months until it is vacated when son number one rises cawing from the nest and flaps over to torment the drill sergeants at Harrogate.

I like the planes with the 'dubs' on em

You could probably just get by with chopping styrene rod stock down too when you have time. That monster is looking great either way

Someone's been working with their engines at "full military power." Looks great! I'm just waiting for my motors and batteries to begin balancing out the hull. I'm hoping for at least as eaqually a succesful project! - MT
