I wear it a slight angle( bit like bi-focal glasses )

I tilt my head up very slightly for 1/ 1 viewing( inc TVand PC screens in the model room )

and tilt down slightly for x 1/75( or x 3.5 when I ma detailing 1/350 figures!! )


Try an Optivisor--cheap enough--but only by a genuine Optivisor --the lenses are very good--lesser magnifiers often have poorer lenses....

Once used--you will never look back--and wonder how you managed without...?

Thought it might be a winch but best guess now is that it makes coffee!

Next time you're taking pictures, it'd be really cool if you could put something next to your above picture for scale like some people do with matches or coins. I want to see how small this really is!

...All that for an item that's not even all that visible in the overall model.

That is true, but my theory is (I've given this subject some thought...) that even if not noticed initially, the extra detail makes an impression on the sub-conscious of the person viewing the model, adding to the subjective impression of Wow! they feel when their eyes first fall on the subject being viewed. Then as their eyes and conscious mind scan back and forth and "catch up" over the next several minutes, the extra detail begins to come out, and your efforts become more and more appreciated. But that initial Wow! they feel is what captivates them, and creates the lasting impression, like when we meet someone new and they have a unique quality about them that somehow impresses us.

Glad you like my theory! Human perception/interpretation is an interresting subject to me. I do agree about weathering being overdone in many instances. It's a great example of "less is more".

Great work here Bob, I agree it's harder to modify kit parts sometimes than it is to just make them from scratch, nice clean, flat and square styrene compared to blobby rounded off kit parts.
