Correction that was likely a typo. The 40mm were what is added after Eastern Solomons.
Thanks. Meant to say removed.

She had the quad 40mm installed by Santa Cruz. One of the reasons she survived and Hornet didn't. That and she didn't eat a torpedo.

Hmm... with Intrepid now under the Trumpeter label, will we finally see release of the Vietnam-era aircraft packs?

Add the HMS Calcutta scaled down to 1/700 as well! And while your at it, if your not going to release the Belfast in 1/700, then make its sister the Edinburgh appear instead!

How long ago was 1/700 Belfast, from Trumpeter announced there? 5-6 years ago?
I guess some items are just way down on their priority list.

Hasegawa is releasing a 'limited edition' of its 1/450 scale IJN Aircraft Carrier Shinano in January 2021 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the laying down of the keel. The model website (not a sponsor on here) I saw this on does not mention whether the kit is an upgrade or not. Although it does say you get a bonus special badge.

If only it was in 1/350 scale.

Bof ! most certainly a release of the old kit by Hasegawa at the same scale 1/450. I do not think the current covid situation will push manufacturers to invest a lot in new big kits.

No, it'd be the new-mold one released in 2015: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10343419

Don't count on it, scale model building has had a big upswing this year. People stuck inside looking for something to do....
