Very cool info. Yes, ships are different of course.

And also, Im sorry I have to say something.

The vintage Arktika looked classy..

Americans have a nice looking high viz color scheme also (Canada also):

And 2020 Arktika was supposed to look like this:
Artika_2016.jpg
But instead we have the ugliest paint job possible, with that pointlessly huge and badly designed RosAtomFlot logo, and yellow cranes that jar with cyan paint job and that enormous wrap around Russian flag... I feel like Ryan Gosling in the SNL Papyrus sketch looking at this design.
New-Icebreaker-Arktika-To-Be-Ready-To-Go-In-2020.jpg
It's just not pretty. Id like a 1/700 version of this so I can paint it as it was originally proposed, not that horrendous thoughtless child interpretation of a nice paint job. And I would recommend everyone to do their Arktika that way also in as planned livery. Not good to encourage bad design. :heh: :sorry:

I concur about the yellow cranes but overall I like the colour scheme. Cold blue colours to suit the cold arctic. I actually like the wraparound Russian flag and the Cyrillic lettering on the hull. Makes her very distinctively Russian looking. It is not a nice as the black and orange scheme from Soviet Times but does look distinctly more modern.

Some walkaround views from her commissioning:

And some onboard views during the latter stages of construction:

I guess they will never do. Years ago (maybe 10 or more), they announced they would release 8 battleships at 1/350. They released the Sebastopol, Marat and Dreadnought. And stopped. Most certainly because the two Russian did not sell well. I was trying to guess what would be the other ones : October Rev, Paris Commune, Alexander III or Catherine II were quite certain. But nothing came.
So, tired to wait, I recently decided to build the Paris Commune from a Marat and the Catherine the Great from a Sebastopol. I suspect this is the best thing to do.

Oh I'd really love to see the Russian Black Sea Fleet Dreadnoughts in 1/350 too. I suppose part of the problem is they are so little known in the west? It is very difficult to even find any books in English about them. And you never see TV documentaries about them either. Logical enough given the chaos of the first World War, the Russian Civil War and the cloak of secrecy from the Soviet era. The battleships are almost unknown in the west. I only heard of them myself through reading about the exploits of the Goeben / Yavuz.

I found this by Google translating to Russian and image searching. I really like the olive green colour scheme and the aerial recognition discs on the turret roofs:

Dragon's releasing an updated version of their Zumwalt kit with new 3D-printed parts to reflect changes to the superstructure since their entering service: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10743131

Dragon's previous Zumwalt was a Black Label release...no wonder they're having to re-tool the kit! Dragon indicates it is full hull only. "Paging Dr. Dremel!"
I guess this is proof that the entire kit is re-tooled...the Black Label one was waterlined.

I think you're reading the autotranslate too literally ;) It saying that it's available as a "full hull model" doesn't necessarily exclude the option to leave off the lower hull. Indeed it makes no sense to merge the two into a new tooling when they're incorporating the new parts via 3D printed ones.

Whatever Dragon has done couldn't have made it worse (although I'm sure they will try!), and the printed parts could improve it. Modellmarine.de didn't give the initial release a great review, and claimed the weapons sprue was from Pit Road. Have to wait for better info or reviews on this new (or re-) release. Unfortunately, no mention of PE yet!

The only part from the legacy weapons sprue that was used is the S/MH-60 helicopter. Everything else is new-mold.

The helicopter from the old Pit-Road sprue can be discarded. It is only remotely similar to a Seahawk and has none of the characteristics of a MH-60R.

There are other problems, at least with the original Zumwalt kit by Dragon (Black Label):
the tiles on the superstructure are oversized
the radar antenna and air intakes at the superstructure are depicted the same way (can be may be covered by painting)
the SPY-4 radar antenna are depicted, but not present on the real ships. There are tiles at the positions of these antenna

The original kit contained PE parts for the MQ-8B Fire Scout - but forgot the rotors for the Seahawk (anyway, a replacement for that one is needed).

I still hope on the Dodo Models kit - should be much better.

Hi guys, somebody know if any brand (MikroMir, Zvezda, etc.) are working in a new Borei II model ?? Its any differences from previous Borei, the principal can you see is a new design of sail, look like similar to Virginia class.
Have nice week end.

You may be referring to the offering being worked on by Combrig, but this is a company that specialises in resin.

'Course I may be wrong and if so, do share the juicy gossip!

There are about 10 I'd get if they really come out, but the Deutschland surprised me. I was thinking about getting the Combrig version but I'll wait on it now
