That is strange. I've built four of these babies and never had a problem.

Must be lucky...

Replacement for the replacement flight deck update.
I got an e-m from Dragon Care today and they offered to send me another piece as fast as possible. I told them not to bother because I would make the original work.

Yes, you are right. The one with out the elevators glued on is the replacement. The pictures don't really do the flight deck justice. I should have put a couple of tracks on it and made it a roller coaster ride for all the dips and curves it has built in.
Now I will order some SBD's and make an early USS Yorktown CV-10 out of the kit.

Dragon's Lexington CV-16 is finally done. I am glad that I did not have the problems that you had with your Dragon kits.

Here are my 2nd and 3rd builds of 2009, i hope to have at least another 2-3 completed before the year ends, already a 400% improvement on most years, USS Saratoga and SNS Dedalo were 2 and 3 respectively.
Happy Modeling

The Yorktown is part of this Group build so I will post some progress here. The island and flight deck are done for now.
Now on to finishing the hull and a/c

Well, after a lengthy bout of procrastination, I finally ordered the a/c decals for this Yorktown build. They arrived this week and apon their arrival the Enterprise was put back on the shelf. What started out as a simple put some decals on some airplanes grew into this mess on the bench. This mess is the result of painting the deck tractors, working on the a/c for the flight deck and the hangar deck. The flight deck airplanes will get four national insignias and the hangar deck planes will only get one, thats all you will be able to see through the open roll up doors. I'am aiming at finishing six to ten a/c a day, with my primary concern being the planes for the hangar deck. The flight deck planes will get the good decals that I ordered form Mark at:http://starfighter-decals.com/ and the hangar deck planes will get left over Trumpeter decals.

My " Aircraft Carrier Group Build 2009" carrier is running into 2010 but I promise to have it done by April 10 of this year if all goes according to plan.
Now it's back to adding wings to the hangar deck airplanes.

Well, the TBF's are now finished. The forward six are for the hangar deck and the rear twelve are going on the flight deck. The hangar deck planes are the Trumpeter planes with GMM props. The flight deck planes are combination of Trumpeter fuselage with Dragon wings, landing gear and GMM props.
I personally like the clear plastic planes that allow the green interior to stand out in the right lighting.

- The SB2C's are next
I'm behind schedule on building aircraft, so I had best be getting back to the work bench.

Hi Gordon,
They look great!!
I really like the Tri Color Paint Scheme you used. That is tough to make look good in 700th scale!
Well Done!

Mark, thanks for your kind comments.
For todays' update, I give you the finished SB2Cs and a couple of hours latter you also get the finished hellcats.

- SB2Cs
Now it's on to the F6Fs
The F6Fs are now done. I spent some quality time working on little airplanes rather than watching the big games on tv.

- F6F's
Now it's back to the hull.

Looking really great Gordon, superb work on the weathering you achieved on the flightdeck, as Mark said about the tri colored a/c camo, its tough to achieve and make it as visible as you have done, BZ on that
Happy Modeling

After six and a half months, off and on of working on the Yorktown this is where she's at today. The hull is mounted to it's base and has been flat coated. The wave and wake pattern has been laid out and ready for painting. The island is finished and also flat coated. The aircraft are done and the hangar deck planes have been installed. The guns are done and the flight deck is ready to be installed. The ship's crew has also been painted and ready to be added to the hangar deck. I'll install the hangar deck crew tomorrow night and then Yorktown is ready to have the flight deck installed. The port side elevator is now done, but not without some more drama on my part. Let's just say it's finished now and let it go at that.
