Early 1941 till mid 1943. Please tell us your impression of the kit when you got it !
In my opinion IJN Nagato and IJN Mutsu from Fujimi are the best IJN Nagato class battleships in the market in 1/700.

Re: Calling all IJN Nagato class fans
The pipes arround the funnel requires a sharp razor to be cleaned/removed properly from the sprue. So take care with all those pipes for the funnel.
This is the only drawback in the IJN Nagato and IJN Mutsu from Fujimi in 1/700. If you can call it a drawback of course, cause all this trouble from removing this delicate pipes comes from how Fujimi done it to model them in the right scale and proper dimensions, and cause of that the frail plastic can be broken if too much pressure is used. Of course you can remove them and instead use rods of white plastic.

And almost forgot it:

See those two AA platfoms in red ?
For those two, try to dry fit them first. Sometimes the pipes from the funnel got blocked by those two platforms and so the openings must be enlraged(with a file, etc) according to the desirable fit.

Re: Calling all IJN Nagato class fans
Hey guys, I was wondering if you could use the new Nagato kit Fujimi 1/700 scale and convert it into a late leyte gulf appearance by using Lion roars Aroshimas Nagato 1/700 photo etch? I have had the Aroshimas Nagato 1/700 and began the buliding of her a few years ago but must say the amount of problems i ran into with her has sorta left me looking for an alternative option to add a better Nagato to the fleet.

Kinda yes, IJN Nagato's pagoda wasnt changed like IJN Kongo's class throughout the duration of WWII.
Lion Roar's set include set of her extra AA set she has at 1944. That extra AA guns didnt change her appearance drastically, so I guess many parts of the Lion Roar's can be used for IJN Nagato from Fujimi in 1/700.

Re: Calling all IJN Nagato class fans
This was from the IJN Amagi and IJN Tosa thread
As you can see the number 2# and 3# turret had the new "large" rangefinders, while the 1# and 4# turret has the old "small" rangefinders.
Any photographic reference for that ? And I guess that modification(if it ever occurred) happend only after the installation of double 12,7 AA guns.
Im still concerned about the rangefinders on the new Aoshima's 1933 IJN Nagato in 1/700.D-Boy wrote:Agreed. But I'll be so eager just to build her as Nagato that it might take a second or third kit to cannabalise her for parts! Had hoped Nagato would be mine by Chirstmas, but HLJ now reports a January availability.Atma wrote:You know, cannibalizing this(the upcoming IJN Nagato 1933 by Aoshima in 1/700):
offers nice opportunities for a turned back funnel IJN Amagi class battlecruiser.

Re: Calling all IJN Nagato class fans
From this picture provided by Aeronautic of IJN Mutsu early 1930's with double 12,7 AA guns and turned back funnel the rangefinders are not clear enough. Anyone can provide a clear picture ?

And here the model from Aoshima, of IJN Nagato 1933 in 1/700. In the red circle you can see that the number 2# and 3# turret had the new "large" rangefinders, while the 1# and 4# turret has the old "small" rangefinders.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all thought I would post some pics of my Hasegawa 1/350 1941 Nagato. I have a build log in the work in progress section but in case you don't want to punish yourself with that-

Ocean Voyage Nagato (1/200)
Hello Nagato fans. I've commissioned a very high-end professional build for a 1/200 Nagato (1944) using the Ocean Voyage model as a base with heavy modification of PE and custom work. I receive pictures from the builders from time to time and wanted to know if anyone is interested in tracking the build, changes and modification, etc.?
Just let me know - regardless I'll plan to post pictures of the completed model (late 2012). Matt
