Bill,
Try:
http://www.geocities.com/pinnochionz/IJ ... ukikai.jpg
For the bow section of the Shimakaze. If this gets through OK I will post the midship and stern sections url - or you can search around that site and pick up the others yourself.
I have not asked Mr Haruo Takami, author and copyright holder for permission to post this excerpt so please treat it with respect. I would not like to get in his bad books as he is a fountain of knowlege on all things IJN. The pic is a small segment of the planset and nobody could build a model from it, for that I suggest you buy the complete thing at:
http://www2.odn.ne.jp/miyukikai/sub2.htm
Scroll down the page to the list of plans.
The excerpt is purely for reference to sighting the 13 and 25mm guns at the time of her demise.
It will be removed as soon as you, ( Bill ) tell me you have it downloaded.
Today I have another 3 reject slips from Yahoo.com.au stating that you do not have an account. I can only presume that I have copied the address incorrectly. Could you PM me again with the right one please?

Filipe,
Have you forgotten how to do a search on the J.airaft.com/ships site?

Thank you, looks very fine!
However, I think
Ikazuchi, Inazuma, Akatsuki, and Hibiki belong to third group, and Ushio to Second.... Main distinctive feature is hereby that third group had only 3 boilers and thus much thinner first funnel.....

Thank you, PetrOs--I have corrected the list, accordingly!PetrOs wrote:Thank you, looks very fine!

I am still in the process (on and off), of cross-checking units within each sub-classification. I had already made some changes to my initial draft before posting, and I expected it to be subject to fine-tuning. My goal is accuracy, so where better to post it, than MW Forums?

A couple of things:
Akigumo was actually a Kagero class DD. This is very well documented, with photographic evidence. The error is from western sources, in part, due to confusion with the Japanese hull numbering system, which used phantom hull #s to hide funding needed for the Yamatos. So, the Kageros and Yugumos were equal in number, 19 units each.
Also, there were 4 units in the Fubuki Type III class: Hibiki, Ikazuchi, Inazuma, & Akatsuki
Uranami is actually a transition ship between Type I & Type II: Type I bridge and main mounts with Type II ventilators
Ariake & Wakaba are actually considered a improved subclass of the Hatsuharu type by all Japanese sources.
The Matsu and Tachibana classes have been classifed as DE types by western surces but, in fact, were never given that designation by the Japanese.
FWIW

RNFanDan,
You should also check out the Combined Fleet website. I think that site and the Ship message board at J-aircraft.com are 2 of the best IJN resources on the web.
The Destroyer section of the Combined Fleet site divides all of the destroyers into classes and gives WWII TROMS for almost all of them.
Many of the IJN modelers here are also active on the J-Aircraft ship messageboard.

Or, more in keeping with the intent of this list, a Cruiser Type, Second Class unit. I've since found a print-out about this exact correction among my disorganized notes, from the "Long Lancers" web page.Dan K wrote: Akigumo was actually a Kagero class DD.
As for the Inazumi and Ikazuchi, Petros corrected me on this already but in my haste, I pasted them into the wrong place
This was a casualty of transferring and editing text blocks from my first draft. I should have caught this immediately--there are two such "one-offs" (the other being Shimakaze), and the Uranami escaped my notice.Uranami is actually a transition ship between Type I & Type II: Type I bridge and main mounts with Type II ventilators
For modeling purposes, little of notable significance would seem to warrant relocating these last two ships from their existing place on my list (London Treaty, First Class). This is not to dismiss Ariake's qualifications as a subclass, but her visible plan and profile do not suggest enough departure from other London/Firsts, to be noticeable.Ariake & Wakaba are actually considered a improved subclass of the Hatsuharu type by all Japanese sources.
The currently marketed Ariake, Hatsushimo, and Hatsuharu kits in 1:700 scale, with the exception of an available 1933 version, are practically indistinguishable (apart from manufacturing or accuracy issues) from one another. I have no equivalent information at this time, regarding Wakaba.
I've corrected the errors you've alerted me to, Dan--Thanks!
Dan

destroyer paints
Does anyone have any information on the IJN greys that the Fuyuzuki and the Asashimo were during operation Ten-go?
