Looks very nice - crisp and detailed! Hard to see the after tub details, but nice that you got that completed. If you can give a close-up, that would be interesting to see.

All:
I will have two "keels " laid for projects. One is the 1/200 Trumpeter Arizona which we are all well familiar with and the second is the IJN Takao,
which I started many, many moons ago. I have yet to begin any assembly/modifications on the Arizona. I plan to model her as she was just prior to 7 December, generally the October/November time frame. She will be waterline, likely in a sea diorama setting.
The Takao I began scratch building many years ago. The waterline hull is from high density foam(30lb), which works like wood, but is more stable to temperature changes and without the grain headaches. I highly recommend it as a hull medium. It's kind of pricey, but pays off in the long run. The following photos show some items placed on her for photographing. Nothing is really attached as of yet. This is where I am at with her construction. I had shelved her a couple of years ago and in the meantime something fell on her bow area which now warrants a rebuild of it. I have detailed the hull sides; drilled pilot holes for portholes for PE eyebrows. Topside work due next is the linoleum decking aft. Once I get all the hull/deck fixtures(vents, etc) and O1 deck houses(mainly aft near catapults), I will paint her to that point.

Here I am at last; I need to finish my French Jaguar DD as she's been almost 3 years in the making and has visited 3 different cities

It's a paper model from WAK, without dedicated PE I knew of when I started her (it later turned out that a dedicated PE sheet was indeed avaiable), which kind of slowed me down.



I'm currently painting masts and voice pipes aft; I will have to tackle the rigging soon

The paper models can be rather amazing. I haven't constructed any of the dedicated paper models, but did make several models as a youth using Strathmore paper for superstructures etc. surprisingly they have held up with zero issues for over 50 years without special storage.

Steve, you can add Kartonmodels out of Czechoslovakia (http://www.kartonmodels.cz/en/). They do photo etch parts and paper ship models for the paper modelers.

As lashing straps i used ''Aizu micron masking tape No.2 (0,7 mm)''
sprayed with a mix of Tamiya's Flat White XF2 (10 parts) and XF54 Dark Sea Gray (1 part).

Let me begin by stating that I'm new to the progressive photo logging of a model build, so this is a new endeavor to photograph progress I've made without jumping ahead. I thank Jeff Sharp who continues to answer my questions. I refer you to his WIP build on his Arizona in which much of my corrections on my model are based. My postings will generally show progress of the build "by exception" meaning I will post if I have added something or tried a different technique, etc that's different from Jeff's. I also thank Tracy White and Steve Wiper who help tremendously.
My Arizona model will depict her at sea in the first week of December 1941 during her last time she was out at sea prior to 7 December. I chose for her to be at sea mainly because I wanted depict her as a warship underway and to get away from the usual Ford Island depiction. I will begin with the hull corrections. The hawsehole/pipe on the side needs to be corrected. Trumpeter depicts the openings as donut-like rings, when they should be flanged outward to guard against seawater venting up through the hawse pipe. The holes themselves go directly through the side perpendicular to the keel. They should angle backward to the anchor and chain direction.

There's also a mold seam forward of the anchors(see previous pictures) that needs removing. Hawseholes just straight through. It would have been nice if they had made a separate "flange" piece

Future modifications will be the removal/rebuild of these items (3 each side). Does anyone know what they are for? Someone told be they are used to tie up to, but in every photo I've seen nothing is tied to it when there were boats around. They seem to be a major fitting and are on the early BB's. I added a bit to the torpedo bulge. It seemed too narrow for a late version Arizona. The drain/scuttle pipes were removed and will be replaced as well as the aircraft refueling line and other details..
