From the looks of it, these new offering look impressive. Although we won't know until we cut plastic.

Can't wait to see what you do with them. For me, I will make it a priority to get at least one as resources allow.

It is a a great sadness to me that so many incredibly useful resources for modellers
are at best short-lived and at worst relegated to almost no use-sometiems even only months later
or 5 years later ... when the image host ( including the likes of 'established' firms such Image shack etc )
change policy/ funding/ server etc etc and then all images vanish in the ether for ever

Personally -for permanent web resourses like modelwarships.com I always upload the images directly from my PC

that way there is some degree of permanence for MW.com and future modelllers

and we are not reliant on a wholly commercial outside host

view the examples of havoc imposed on these threads by the outside image hosts

I think I shall now get off my ranting box and back to the bench!

The trouble I have with the images directly on the forums is that they seem to lose a lot of quality and lack size.

Imgur is probably the way to go. I hate having to leave Post Image, they have been an institution almost as long as I have been on the internet it seems.

This is fantastic!! Weathering work is wonderful! The chipping technique is very interesting and effective.

@Joe Simon: Glad that you are enjoying my work. It is always a joy to be reciprocated. Your IJN work has been an inspiration for years and years.

We are coming to the conclusion of my collection of relevant images.

I will, when time allows, migrate all existing images to a new system, probably Imgur.

There are one 7 or 8 further images of the incomplete build at any rate.

In my next major build, which is rapidly coming around the corner (it's a big secret ), I will try to capture better images of the processes I use. I am aiming for incremental improvements in the quality of my presentation. Much like I aim for incremental improvements to the quality of my work.

Soon, I will do detail oriented shoot of the completed model and post a gallery. I am also working on my draft essay (which if one read my intro to my abortive Prinz Eugen project, one may have a sense of inevitability on the matter) on the Roma itself. I hope to explore in, survey, some background, the major systems, technical parameters of the prototype. I will also add my highly subjective thoughts on the kit itself and my equally subjective evaluation of the design itself. Because I have opinions. Who knew?

It seems the crisis at Post Image has been averted for now. I have eight more pictures of the build, so let's see them!

My guinea pig, a damaged Tamiya New Jersey from eBay. I used this model to test all of my techniques first, a rough draft if you will. I will post that model at some point although it is definitely a B-game build:

Just stumbled upon this in my research, this is amazing work on hull weathering, I wish there were more posts about this as I just ordered AK Interactive weathering set. How it was used is curious here. Great model and nice to see an Italian BB with a properly made green lower hull as so many come with red which is wrong.

Missed this build! Very cool. Question - what is that black line below boot topping that is jagged and runs along the whole length of the ship? I use also Fran Rameros method but lately I am onto something new - using pigments and watercolor pencils. They are so forgiving in application.

It's supposed to be the buildup of marine growth. I painting green and olive brown spots directly under the water line with a fine tip brush and a sponge.

I now use thinned acrylic paints for this effect. I will have to try pigments sometime.
