Fliger747 wrote:To make my inclined ladders I use a Jig from 1/16" plexiglass. The ladder material is 0.0085" Strathmore Velum faced artists paper. The back rail is taped to the far side of the jig and the steps glued to the back rail with wood glue. This does not stick to the jig. Then I glue the front rail with CA and pop the ladder out of the jig and ad a little CA to the back rail.
My experience with Strathmore papers for ship construction is that they are durable for at least the 55 years that they have held up for so far on models I made ages ago.
Great job !!!! Do you have other pics of the making of ladders ? It's hard for me to understand

OK, Little example of assembling a ladder.
The strips are cut out of this archival artists paper, side rails and steps.
The back rail is taped to the back of the jig.
Steps are attache to the back rail with wood glue, does not stick to the jig.
Outer rail attached with CA, then ladder popped free.
Ladder trimmed and wire rails to your style added to the sides.

Besides the 2 50' LCM's there were also a plethora of Higgins 36' LCVP's.
One of these was a basswood master and the others resin cast, a least as far as the main hull parts.
Various parts in Strathmore paper or thin styrene.

The ship has a plethora of posts, king posts and booms. Aside from the king posts there are four posts and attached booms. These arr located at the aft endd of the foredeck and just aft of the midships superstructure and service holds one and four. The posts are hollow and fitted with a ventilator cap and used to provide fresh air for the berthing compartments.
The posts are brass tube, the caps cast in resin from a master turned out of aluminum. The booms wooden dowel. The ladders running up the posts are cut from an open soffit mesh.

Thanks Hank!
I'll try loosely piling all the parts on top of the hull to give an idea of what the ship will look like!

To give some general idea how the ship will look once all the sub contractors deliver the assemblies to the ship yard, they are painted and installed. Absolutely nothing is attached!

Yes the hull has a part of the keel extending down here at the forefoot. You would have to consult the Naval Architects as to the reason. There is of course a paravane installation here.

Guns and bits ready for painting. I stick them on with tape so they don't blow all over the place when painting.
