Sure is. Balsa to be exact. scribed with an exacto knife every 1/16" then stained, sanded and stained again, but as soon as I put the stain on I wiped as much of the stain off to let the stain get in the cracks ,but not as much on the surface.

2x15" turrets glued mean a monstruous barbette... about 20m diameter !!!

With gluing, quad turrets are 20x15m!!! and over 2000T

Did you test a built on a barbette ?

Paint hull is looking very nice :thumbs_up_1:

Jef well thank you I think  . I didn't test much of anything I happened to notice that the sides were flat and would fit together nicely as they do.But thank you for the comment on the paint. I'm trying to start the camo tonight but may not get around to it.

Suggestion regarding the 4x14.96" turrets: Cut the inner slope part out, so that the top lies flat, without any dip.

Timmy thanks for the advice. I'm actually going to fill that area in with putty to make it seemless across the top and going to add a peice of sheeting in the rear so I can continue the curve on the backside. What I've done so far was basically so I can figure out were to put the rest of the 5" guns. This is what I came up with. Please remember that this is just a guess right now and things can change, as I will contemplate everyone's suggestions.

Timmy, the catch is, he can't cut out All of the slope, since the slope actually overlays a portion of the gun mounts. Unfortunately, even with that, he's got the curvature of the front of the turret as well as the back. It's going to take a lot of putty work to smooth out the faces of the turret, that's for sure, but it's all on the inside, like an I-section. Not sure what I think about those triple mounts still... I still say go for broke and just level it all out with a full battery of 8" 60's like the Admiral Hipper. A brawler of a secondary battery, since it'd outrange most any cruiser out there, and deliver some nice hits.

Hello again, I've got some more work done.

Here is the deck finished to the point of meaning wood. I know that a lot of extra work needs to be done to have it completely finished.

Her is a pic of the extension i'm making to the main superstructure.

Here is 2 pic's of the camouflage I put on her. I'm pretty worried on how it come out :frown_2: I'm not sure how authentic it looks, I'd greatly appreciate your help on if it needs some work. I do appreciate all the comments, so feel free to let loose on your opion's.

And finally here is the first mock up. I think some changes will happen ,but right now this is what I have.

Camo looks great, actually - seems very much along the lines of KM's camo schemes.

Whoooooooghhhhh, Thanks Timmy. I was really worried about that. I laid in bed thinking about it all night. So I really didn't get that much sleep.

I think that the superfiring T2x150 (barbettes & shells magasins) near the funnels are just in the boilers place...
that's not very good...

So... Nice work :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Jef , Thanks again :thanks: . So I should remove the twin 5" by the funnels ? In the pic shown do you see a place for them , or should I just take them out completely. Thanks to Sauragnmon( :thanks: ) who figured out that the 4 x tri's are actually 11.5 " guns not 7" guns . So I guess I could do away with one set of the twins. But that's what all of you help me with is figuring out what is good and what's not :worship_1: . Especially since I'm not the most wise ship guy out there.

Why would they be 11.5" and not 7"? Barrel bore size to scale is a one-dimensional linear relation, no?

Wow ,umm I don't really have a answer to that. The only thing that I can tell you is the side triple's is taken from a 1/426 arizona not a 1/700 arizona as originally thought ( my bad ). other than that I can't really give a good answer, sorry.

While being an insane build it has to be a kick to be just coming up with something so terribly different that pretty awesome.

Just my thoughts from looking at the most current mock up is the it looks front heavy with the position of the two funnels touching. You might consider moving the rear funnel back and build something between them like an Aztec Piramid Stwep full of Yamato type AA Guns.

It might give it a little more balanced appearance Bow to stern.

Bare in mind this monster of yours is gonna have to reside in one ocean or the other as it wont fit through the Canal...it's only 110 foot wide

It should be bigger enough to launch a couple PBY's too.

karsten,Thanks for the input,In the camo pics I had the superstructure moved forward, but I've actually move it back about 1/2" . I think that might be enough. But i'm always looking for suggestions and your advice has me thinking. I'm working on the hanger bay right now and hope to have some pics up tonight. sadly I don't think I'll have room for such a large bird, but i have added room for 6-8 smaller search planes. :thanks:

Ahh that would be it =)

426th is ~.82 the linear sizze of 350th, and .82 of 14" is 11.5".

Looking excellent so far! :thumbs_up_1: One suggestion: why not use 11" turrets similar to those mounted on German panzerschiffes and keep the all-german appearance of the ship? You seem more than capable of scratching the turrets! :thumbs_up_1: I also agree with Karsten about moving the aft funnel back a bit and adding some AA.

Oaky, I am no photo shop expect so I wil have to just toss it out there.

Lose the double turrets between the triples and build a massive wall of AA, Yamato style. Main deck, step up and in and a row between the funnels.

You may also want to add some to the tops of the Double Main Turrets as well....remember the Yamato was sunk by Aircraft so you better be preppared.

SpringSharp give 28 torpedoes to sink this BB :thumbs_up_1:
-----------------

I agree to move the second funnel aft, that's logical for boilers space.

For the 150mm turrets, the place under the big T4x380 is not the best...because blast
you could place them by couple, side distribued.

I agree with Avery; Arizona turrets have not German look, they are not in the style...
