Vladimir viewing you 1:700 detailed work on the boat falls and ships boats I will never again complain about working at 1:144. Superb work I just don't know how you do it. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Beautiful work Vladimir!

Quite a late question but how did you "transfer" the plans onto the plastic plates at the beginning?

Thanks,

Vladimir,

Thank you for the tip with transferring PE anchor chain into normal chain. I just can not figure out how anybody did not get to it before. It is the best material for making this chain!

Another update (the updated will most likely be coming faster since I want to finish it by the US Nationals and they are less than two weeks away)

Painted on a waterline and finished detailing the central section of the hull

Built five-barreled 37mm Hotchkiss anti-torpedo guns and 63mm Baranovski landing guns (the pencil is for scale):

I will be there Vladimir. Sean and I will have a table next to L'Arsenal USA. I look forward to seeing you there.

I simply glued the paper to the plastic by soaking it in very thin super glue. Once it was dry I covered it some more on top with super glue and then lightly sanded it until it was smooth.

Sheshhhh Vladimir I have no idea how could I have missed this thread!!! Thankfully I don't think that it's too late......

Great work as usual :thumbs_up_1: but are you familiar with drawings of Sisoj by A. Loginow published in "Modelarstwo Okretowe" no.2 (1/2006)? Well, according to those drawings (and supported by photos in my collection) your model has anchor davits arrangement of 1898-1903 version of Sisoj. The 1904 version looked like this:

True, but since I'm doing the 1896 version of the ship, then the anchor davit arrangement is correct :).

Apologies Vladimir! I have focused on black hull/yellow funnels too much and turrets weren't there to show me the error of my ways. Should have noticed white cabins and conning tower though.....

Wanted to finish the ship before the Nationals but didn';t finish it after all, and got tired of it, so I'm taking a break but here is what I've finished during that building marathon.

Built the turrets, and the masts (the fighting top took about 8 or 9 tries to do as it was very hard to do a circular small part with cutouts). Did the railings and started to do the boat davits

Jef! Good to see you, it's been ages!

Yes, Sisoy is magnificent, absolutely fantastic work. Can't wait to see her finished, but take your time, don't rush on my account... :thumbs_up_1:

Combrig's Sissoi Veliky kit is one that I haven't gotten yet, mainly due to concerns about it being one of their early "free of hull detail" kits.

While I *probably* could have lived with the kit inaccuracies (are the kit supplied plans the same as the plans you're working from, Vladimir?), this build is really showing me the light!

Thank you for sharing, Valdimir, and WOW. :thumbs_up_1:

I am sure that Vladimir will be able to tell you exactly what plans he is using Tom but I can tell you that Kombrig instructions are not enough to accomplish what he is doing. Drawings from Bogdanov's "Eskadrennyj Bronienosiec "Sisoi Velikij"" possibly?

Oh, no doubts about that; the reason I asked was to see if the kit inaccuracies would have been apparent with plan provided.

Some of the plan/profiles in Combrig kits have proved to be far superior to others.

LOL that is very true Tom. I have seen many correct drawings used in instructions for incorrect kits. Why the heck some kit manufacturers don't pay attention to their own instructions

That is the book that I'm using. There is also a free set of plans that is available on the internet:
http://www.navarin.ru/download/get?cat= ... _sisoy.zip
Supposedly these are the most accurate plans out there. I have no way to verify them, but they do seem to work well with the photos.

In the case of Combrig, the model was one of the first that they produced and the plans that they used were the best available at the time but were simply wrong.
