Here's a good collection of roundels from around the world and across the ages.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Roundel

According to that list the Argentine Navy just uses an anchor, like the French Navy does just minus the circles. The Fin Flash is just some stripes in the colors of the flag. You should be able to download the anchor graphic and print some up in 1/700 and either paint the tail (if needed) or make some decals for those too. Let me know if you want to go that route and don't have any graphics software. I can re-size a sheet of them for you in Photoshop and mock up some fin flashes if need be; would just need the aircraft type.
Well, I've learned something, today. I didn't know they were called roundels. I've saved that link in My Favorites for future reference.

Thanks for the offer Cliffy, but I've no need for any custom foreign roundels.

The offer was for McCabe and his Argentine DD Nuke. Not that I have anything against you that is

How selfish of me. :sorry:

I got you and Mike mixed up in my head. I'm looking forward to seeing both of your builds and I confused myself.

I was wondering, to myself, "Why would Cliffy ask for help on roundels if he already has the web site info and the ability to make his own decals?" Well, now you've answered that, for me, Cliffy. It wasn't you, it was Mike McCabe.

Gordon, looking forward to seeing what you can do with the Fletcher! I have made some progress on the Ward, after being very unsuccessful in getting her to lay flat again, I decided to say screw it! :heh: So I made the base that she is going to be mounted to and screwed her down to it and viola! The warp was gone and I now have a very secure model, I also put the main color on on her and again dry fitted some parts to see how they all fit. Since I had to mount her down so that I could paint her, I also went ahead and did the water base now rather than later. I am using a paper mache product called clay-crete, we will see how it works out. I will let the pictures do the rest of talking.

Very odd....my post with photos of my progress is now gone from the thread.... :Mad_6:

I've done the whole "set it to descending" method and its not there, either on the main page of the thread or after said method. I can search through my posts and find it listed but if I try to view it it takes me to the beginning of the thread instead of to my post. Weird..... I was able to view for awhile and Nuke was able to quote it so he at least say it too. It's not the end of the world but it is rather strange. I haven't seen that happen yet even with the post problem. Any insights gents?

I don't see your progress photo posts, either, Cliffy. I was going to suggest the "View Your Posts" feature, but you thought of that already.

They weren't naked pics of your build were they? Porno isn't allowed here. :wave_1:

I hope Cadman can figure this one out.

Have you tried the alternate method that I posted as an addendum under the Descending method (in Tracy's post)?

Remember, Descending/Ascending only shows the last/first 20 posts (respectively) and 20 posts is the amount of posts in a page. This thread is now 3 pages long, so, as you can guess, the ones in the middle will not show up unless you use the alternate method I wrote.

Eight days later and I'm calling this one done.

A water base will come later. This one is going to go in and out of my in-progress navy base diorama. I'll hoist the flag on the foremast at that time.

Ahhh so yeah, set it to "1 Year" instead of "all posts" and magically you can see the page numbers again and view everything normally. Thanks Timmy!

I got a little work done on the Fletcher last night. She is now water lined and the molded on chains have been removed.

I was just going to spruce her up a little bit, add a little detail here and there and then paint paint her blue. I haven't decided whether I'm going to remove the molded on walkways.

Matt, your Ward looks great after all that sanding (all that dust) and a little paint.

Carl, you are off to a great start, your Allen M Sumner looks great as all of your builds do. Some of us have just gotten started and you have finished one already. What's next?

CliffyB, are you doing a Butler Class ship or have you decided on something else?

Quincy, how hare your Eskimo and Cossack coming along? Drilling portholes is fun, right?

DrD, how is the Yukikaze?

David, How is the Monssen coming along?

Simon_Hwood, how is your HMS Bentink coming along?

GTDEATH13, have you made a choice on what to build?

navydavesof, have you decided what you are going to build?

I look forward to seeing and reading how you are progressing.
Gordon

I was able to spend three hours on the the Fletcher today. I spent part of that time removing an inch of the molded on walkway from the rear of the deck so the 40mm shield would lay flat on the deck. That was a pain, so I've decided not to remove the rest of the raised walkway. I haven't glued anything to the deck yet. The last time I built this kit (O'Bannon) I had trouble with the deck houses laying flat on the deck. I had glued the deck to the hull first, but this time I'm going to glue the deck houses to the deck and then glue the deck assembly to the hull.

Mark Mc, What time period is your Coontz going to be?

navedavesof, I'm looking forward to seeing in progress pictures of the Gearing. (I have that kit in the "to do later" pile.

Pieter, You look to be off to a great start on your project. What ship are you doing? You posted that this is the first tin can.
What do you have planned for the second?

05-31-10

I started on the Corsair Armada 5" guns today. The resin turrets are little gems, the resin barrels that came with them are not so good. I should have ordered the brass barrels for these turrets. So, into the spares box and out with some barrels (the non blast bag barrels) from one of Dragons' Benson/Gleaves DD kits and I have replacement barrels, then with some careful drilling the modified barrels slide right in. I also scraped the blast bags down where the barrels attach.
