Out of interest: how much throw did you have/have you now got? And how much was turning aided by backing or stopping the inside props? I'm curious for the details!
Thanks,

At first I had about 30 degree,s but I think one of the rudder posts was not fully tight , after it went in the water the degee reduced to about 20 degree,s, with the working pressure of the water, she still turned but not as good as she should have.
The main link arm near to the rudders was shortend and redrilled, there is now between 40-45 degree,s on the rudders , that should kick the stern round better. ARH

Pity you could'nt have been there on the day, middle watch, despite the bad weather, she look's brilliant on the water, especially when Dave brought his gun boat alongside the Duke.
You should be seeing a lot more pictures of the Duke in July, when she will be amongst lots of other warship models.

Ron, I hate to admit it (I jest), but the 'Iron Duck' looked so real at certain angles on the 2nd. I only hope me 'Derfflinger' looks half as good.
By the way, the Kaiserlichten Marine were out in force at Dortmund. Wait until DW posts the pictures. You'll be swept away with awe. Truly fantastic and the display alone made the trip worthwhile.
Keep modelling Ron lad, like the 'Iron Duck' and you'll be on a par with the best, perhaps even surpass them. Do you think you can change your 'Monterry'? Class for a 'Fletcher'?

hey Ron
ID looks good on the water--but that rain... ouch! ...
I guess you are having a build break... or is there something stirring down in the shed...?
Hope you are keeping well and enjoying teh operating side of the ID project!
Best Wishes

Hi Jim, Thanks for the post, I hope to get some more photos on the site as soon as she sails again, you can say OUCH, there was lots of rain of the 3/4 of an hour we sailed, no water inside, but even though I treated the rear deck, must have only given it 1 coat of varnish, the front deck had 3, the rear deck began to lift in the middle, it is trapped in a slight raised section either side where the handrails are, after leaving it to dry naturaly it returnd to its original shape, normaly we possibly would not have sailed, but if you say you are going to do something, then you have to do it, or disapoint a lot of people.
There are things happening, top secret, have thrown a few hints out,

The CIC does not even know yet, ARH

LES did not turn up.
It was not a fully succesful day, Iron Duke lost her poop deck
and Blucher lost her aircraft, it was a fine day but a very windy day, Iron Duke caught her sturn on the lock gates and the poop deck being built of litho plate sank to the bottom of the cannal,

, so a little more building to do before the 2nd July.

Nice shots there Ron. Who is the other guy with Dave? His model looks great too.
Sorry to hear about the poop deck, at least you didn't loose the Duke herself.

We were trying to get a photo of the two models together but dave had trouble with the weeding round his props and hit the bank hard, losing the aircraft, we never did find it, so the two ships never got together this time,

Iron Duke having 4 props it did not effect me as much as Dave , Blucher only having 3, the middle and 1 outer prop was weeded up, I still had 2 working at least.
