I received Flyhawk's 1/700 Zumwalt from Auroramodelshop in under 3 weeks...that's really phenomenal delivery time as it was supposed to arrive in mid-June. Well developed kit, and much better than Dragon's - the "stealth" tiles are already molded on and aren't over-sized.

I got mine in the mail yesterday, and indeed the engineering is worlds above the Dragon kit, as expected. My Dragon kit (the DDG-1002 release) is half completed, and will probably stay that way indefinitely. IMHO, If you have the Dragon kit unbuilt, it would be best to sell it while you can, and pick up the very affordable Flyhawk kit.

It is both more accurate, more detailed, and better engineered.

A few of Vee Hobby�s CAD shots on progress. I imagine this will follow their South Dakota class and Missouri release style. A base kit, deluxe and premium? Maybe with a smaller subject it will just be basic and premium?

That's pretty cool. Even if it is WL. Definitely interested in the Fuso/Ise as built configs.

That's a interesting choice. Especially since it's right out of the blue. I think it would be very interesting if it was the VF tool, but since the TRP/HB operation has such an amazing capacity for cranking out kits I would be unsurprised if it was a clean sheet design that was aimed at the VF kit.

The Japanese market will surely buy enough of these to make Joy Yard's investment worthwhile. The US market buying enough South Dakota (BB-49) and Lexington class kits? Doubtful. (Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it and would be all over that action!) On the other hand, if Joy Yard is breaking in to 1:700, they could do reasonably well by covering the New Mexico class from WWI through Mississippi's weapons test ship days...

Sprue shots in hand for the Tosa-class - excellent! Picking up Fujimi's dropped ball first!

And Fuso... do I buy it, or complete the modification/scratchbuild I started so many years ago... (Already got the torpedo net booms on her... darn, tough call...)

I'd love them as well, but I'm glad we're getting some new, interesting subjects. I imagine other "what-if's" or "never-completed" vessels may get a second look if these sell well.

Remember Joy Yard announced 11 1/700 USN DD and DE kits back in early March. Hope those are still planned. At least a couple of these new announcements have test shots. Very big program of new 1/700 kits for a company that has been around awhile and only has a couple of 1/350 releases. I had rather see the 1/700 USN DDs and Des first.

I'm sure you mean in plastic kit form but I do make nice resin kits of both ships in 1944 fit at D-day.
