I've ordered a casting set from Micromark, right after my exams I'll cast tow mules for my Nimitz, along with some various deck equipment.

very nice effects on the Kuznetsov Pere, how did you achieve that nice deck effect? And what colours did you use for the deck?

well Neptune .the effects of the deck ,
first colour is light grey , humbrol 64 matt and after you put a little point of black colour and with a dry pincel . and mouve quick , you can use to a oil colurs a little points of white , blue .

I wish we could see some carrier deck equipment and tow mules in 1/700. A good solution would be JAG's Carrier vehicles from their Future carrier kit. Also their vehicles of the Austin class LPDs are very good. I don t know if it would be possible for those vehicles to be sold separately but if they would be released as a set they would be a welcome addition for all 1/700 carrier builders.

I had asked Jag for their vehicles but get no reply. So I decided to make my own.
I plan to produce the following vehicles :
-the "standart" tow mule
-the P-25 fire fighting vehicle.
-the flight deck scrubber used to clean the flight deck.
-and maybe some other vehicles.(nitrogen supplies, power generators).

I've got enough photos and drawings to do them right. My supplies are ordered at Micromark. Now I'm waiting for after my exams to start.(in two weeks it will be over).
I have already cast my plaster blocks in which I'll carve the vehicles.

As I will have far more resin than needed, I think I will cast more vehicles and sell them. Maybe a set of eight tow mules with two P-25. Suggestions are welcome.

Count me in as a buyer for several of these sets.

I think you will find that JAG have been asked countless times about their flightdeck vehicles, i have asked for them and also asked what the chances are on them being released as a separate set, their workload didnt allow at that time. so just keep your fingers crossed and also Count me in as a buyer for several of your sets.

Tom-Tom, Don't remember a request from you about deck vehicles, but my memory can be a bit stodgy at times. Sometimes, certain e-mail providers are blocked on our end without our knowledge as well, and our software will automatically send certain messages straight to the spam container.

I am slowly working on a set of deck tractors and a tilly crane in 1/700. The plan is to provide PE with the set for the crane, as the tilly cranes carried by CVNs, and CVs have the large boom on them. If enough interest is shown by the Big Boys, I'll also consider doing them in 1/350. ISWs set is more geared for amphibeous ships (The single hydraulic arm crane carried by said amphibs). Our work schedule right now is a KILLER. No time for ship pattern making at the moment. I hope that will abate slightly at the beginning of the month (Feb.)

I can vouch for that. Tom@JAG is a bellsouth.net customer and I doubt he has got any emails sent thru this site. Bellsouth has been blocking this site for quite some time. I only noticed this due to the recent forum upgrade. I am sure that if I was blocked, others were too.

That could be quite true Cadman. Also, I do not look at my PMs on this site. If someone needs to contact us at JAG, they need to do so through our business e-mail address directly. jagco@bellsouth.net

I don't usually have a lot of time to peruse the boards anyway. It still amazes me that some people choose to use the message board as their chosen means of communication, instead of a bonafide business e-mail address that is checked numerous times during the day. I may only be able to check the message boards here and at SN once every 3-4 days sometimes. Messages will either roll away, or be buried by the time I get to checking the boards.

A Tilly with PE that's good news.
The trumpi one is a pity but has the right size, while the italeri is too small for 1/700.

FOr the emails to Jag, I think it has been trapped by anti spam or so. I don't worry, some of their fine ships are still on my shopping list !

I got a mail from Micromark, their resin set is on its way to me !

Any chance this set is going to have something else other than deck tractors such as missiles, bombs and the vehicles that carry them?

One of the most difficult things to represent on a carrier are the weapons that are waiting to be loaded on aircraft. I have made copies of a JMSDF vehicle and put missiles and bombs on it.




This was my first attempt to display weapons on CV-62




CV-63 with 2000 lb bombs Amraam and Mavericks waiting to be loaded to the aircraft.
