Kirov anchor

Post by corpsman »

EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hole is smaller and there is a "ridge" on which the anchor flukes sit/rest.
Thank you, Bob!!!

Frunze elevator

Post by corpsman »

Okay. . .I see what I believe to be tracks in which the hangar door/top slides back on.
But . . .I have pictures in which the hangar doors appear to be P&S of the elevator. Plus, saw one picture of the inside of the hangar and I saw hinges in which the doors open up and I guess stand straight up.
Okay. . .that leaves me to conclude that the hangar doors open to lock in place next to the elevator edges, as the elevator rises for the He-27 to be moved onto and lowered to the hangar below. The rails may be something like the USN RAST system.
Would this type of system apply to all 4 of the Kirov class hangar system?
Can anyone confirm or lead correctly!?

Frunze

Post by corpsman »

Kind of confused reference a picture by Mark Meredith of Frunze. . .it is a starboard view from the aft 130mm to the aft mack.
Comparing the picture to the Trumpeter Frunze Part F28, the picture shows a circular octagon shape vs. the squarish shape of the Trumpeter Part F28. Is the shape original verse an update? Any idea when such a refit would have occurred? Or. . .just bad representation of the octagon shape?
What is a good color to use for Russian Pacific Gray?

I am in the process of building 3 Trumpeter 700 scale Kirov & using pictures from Mark Meredith as reference.
I have just finished building the aft Top Dome/Top Steer deckhouse & adding 5 extensions to the Top Steer platform. Enlarging the pictures, I now see extensions directly beneath the Top Steer platform and one sticking out from the searchlight platform.
Questions it raises: just how many extensions are under the Top Steer platform? I think I see four, 2 fore 2 aft P&S.
The searchlight platform appears to have only 2, P&S aft only. But it looks like the platform holds 2 searchlights one small and one large.
Can someone confirm?

Bob,
Thank you for your response!!!
I have gone to the "Upload Attachment and the "Frunze aft radar" is the picture in question. I clicked on the title and the picture came up. Pray that will open it for you as well.
Otherwise, I have no idea how to post pictures on this forum.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did it!!!!!!!!!!
Picture show the Top Steer platform and the 5 "yardarms" in question.
Below that is the "searchlight" platform with 2 items on it & another "yardarm" sticking out. Again these are the items I seeking info on.

Bob,
Thanks a million!!!!
With regret, the program I have does not have Paint in order to super impose arrows or circles. Trying to figure that part out.
Basically, you have answered my question. If in the picture, then it is correct.
The picture I posted was of the Frunze submitted by Mark Meredith. I copied all that were posted on this Forum. Thus, whatever I see in the pictures need to be on the model I build of her.
Second, Kalinin and Petr Velikiy will follow. From all the reading and reviewing of pictures, I have kinda of concluded that these 2 last ships are to a great extend neatly identical. As an example, the picture you send me would be appropriate for the PV.
Afraid I have little to no knowledge of just how to pull up all the pictures you mention. I have followed the links posted in the Forum and that is about the limit of my skills with the computer and searching.
I currently have WEM Northern Fleet Gray. What is a good color for Pacific Fleet Gray?
Sincerely appreciate your help!!!

Hi everyone, can someone tell me what the circled device is on the Kirov class cruisers and, if possible, point me towards, or send me, good pictures of same, or better yet a drawing of same?

Thanks,

Andrew

This may have been posted before, but never mind...
2006_NavyDay-2.jpg
I found it on the The Kirov veterans website

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate ... =&ie=UTF-8

Lots of pictures of the ship, and from the ship. Also videos. Well worth a browse.

Happy New Year
