Well it has been a while. Kalinin (She will be the 3rd of the glass) has been in the water and works very well, capable of a good turn of speed.

The focsle and pieces are now coming together nicely and with a bit of time available now, I'm going to get stuck into building her.

The top dome FC radars I have had made for me, due to the length of the build I decided to outsource for a few parts. Thanks Brian and Gunter.

The compartment on her focsle will be a reel store so I can carry some lines for her.

I'm long over due updating this build, so here are a few picks of Peter the Great now, and I will be far more regular in the future.

Thanks Dave, I purchased 6 Kashtans from Shapeways, not cheap, but brilliant quality, more than I could achieve by hand, and a lot less frustrating....
The vast majority of the model though is all scratch built either by myself or experts in their area's, i.e. George Sitek manufactured a brilliant running set for her off photos.

This is great. Sort of assumed all these projects (I think at some point in time 3 together on this class of ship), were stopped dead in their tracks due to their large size and complexity.
I'm extremely happy to see you hung on and got this far already. Great quality of build so far and it looks superb on the water, although I'd imagine the picture doesn't do justice to the real size of this model! It doesn't really give much reference and 1/1 scale water always has a dwarfing effect to RC Ships.

Hi Neptune, thanks for the comments. A little while into the build I have to say I did stop and think "what have I actually taken on here" I can spend hours making a few parts, put them on and realise they are such a small part of the model over all.

Below are 3 shots of my almost finished model of HMS Arrow (Fleetscale kit) beside Peter the Great, Arrow is also at 1:72 so you can get a comparison. By the way the base of the stand where the hull sits is the same height from the table.
