Hi Guys, Here,s the what we are using for the hull, Resin, Glass Fibre Matt and hardner.

The mat im using is a little thicker than on Moffett, also I will give it a second coat of thinner tissue.

The matting was cut and laided on, the resin was put in a large pot and the hardner added, you do not need a lot of hardner in the summer, with a paint brush you dab the resin in to the matting, if you need to mix more, put the resin in your pot and put your brush into it, this stops it going hard and you can carry on with the same paint brush.

When finished, leave to set for 24 hours.

Then you can take it off the plug.

I trimmed around the hull taking off the bits that were hanging down below deck level, with the mould release on the plug the hull came away quite easily, and cleaned up nicely.

Sorry to hear you won't be at 'Kingsbury' or at the next meeting. Enjoy Lake Garda and all things Italian.
I can understand your rush now, you're making up the time you will lose whilst in Italy. Good thinking and forward planning there Ron.

Hi Guys, I have put the hull back on top of the plug and cast the second coat this time tissue which is thinner but still strong with the resin bonded to it.

After it set I took it off and placed it on top of the plug. STERN SHOT

BOW SHOT, as you can see the plug is still in one piece.

The hull was given a wash out with white spirit to get rid of the remainder of the releasing wax.

Hi Guys, Covering the Hull.

This is the amount of paste I use at a time and hardner, mix and lay it on, this amount you will have no waste.

First coat ruffed on, when doing this put the plug back under the hull, it gives you something to press on when speading the paste.

Second thin coat put on, note I have put on the short part of the keel.

One side coming to shape after a quick sand down, the hull comes off the plug very easily.

Opposite side with a first rough coat.

What I do next is take my pencil and mark all the blemishes in the hull.

Then I mix some more paste and fill in all the blemishes and leave to set.

The hull after a good sanding down, it will not be a polished finish, slightly grainy to take adhesive.

VERY COOL RON!!! When you were building the Moffett I though wow wouldn't it be fun to build her. NOW I am getting the same ideas in my head with the USCGC Duane!! Nice to see another beautiful hull in the works
