Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
I hope they do re-release it soon - I found one on ebay but its going to cost around 35 (about $55-60 ish) - which is twice what it would cost to get the 1933 version - might dig my Jintsu out and compare to the drawings and pics people have posted on here.
thanks
Mike

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
I have the Aoshima Jintsu 1942 kit, unbuilt. While I have not gone over it with a fine tooth comb, it certainly appears correct.
Naka has an reference advantage given the 1942 photos that are available but, they can also serve for most details for Jintsu, IMHO.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
Hi! Im looking for linedrawings to detail Jintsu 1942 from Fujimi. Even when Aoshima new kit is accurate, this is the first waterline model I buyed (not the first to build) and I think is not that bad. I need detail specially on the crane, since I see a square one in some sources and others looks similar to the Naka. Any info will help. Thank you guys.

Per Lacroix and Wells, during the 1933-34 refits, Sendai gained a pole derrick, Jintsu and Naka gained a built up (girder) type derrick. Carried thru to her loss.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
I have a question for all the experts out there. I have the Aoshima 1/350 scale Nagara kit and I was wondering if the Tom's Modelworks IJN Light & Heavy Cruiser details set http://www.tomsmodelworks.com/catalog/p ... cts_id=439 has the correct catapult and crane for this ship.
Also any recommendations on references to help build and detail this model?
Thanks,
Felix Bustelo

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
I have the kit in the box, but only the Aoshima PE fret that is designed for it. The kit looks like a straight forward build. The Tom's fret looks like an enlargement of the 1/700 version; not bad.
I think the Model Art Special #28 or 29 (see prior page) is a pretty good reference for the CLs.

There aren't any good photos of her in wartime. This 1937 shot is close to her 1942 fit, save for changes to her foremast and searchlights, IIRC.

Hi Dan,
If I cannot get a hold of that Aoshima fret I was hoping the Tom's would be plan B - so it has the correct catapult and crane for Nagara?
Thanks,
Felix

~ $20 US + $5 shipping from Hobby Link Japan. On backorder there, according to website, but I've been getting very quick service on backorders from them recently, far shorter than the 4-6 weeks posted.Felix B. wrote:Hi Dan,

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
I think it's correct, Felix. Certainly, the crane boom is a gantry type latticework, and the catapult a Kure type 5 so, it should be good.
