Some progress on the design of the chimney block (or Engine Trunk).

Surprisingly I have been to all of the landmark tall buildings you display, though the one in Chicago was the "Sneer's" Tower back then. Buildings are like trees, being rooted in one place simplifies many things. Airplanes and ships and animals lead a more exciting life, if also more complex.

Looking at the extra bracing added to the aft of the superstructure, one realizes that the size of these ships races beyond the strength of materials and additional measures must be employed. With this great length the hull girder must have to handle tremendous bending moments. The shape of the stack/funnel etc is quite elegant and you have done a good job of capturing it!

Speaking about tonnage and length, King Alexander of Latsis has the best tonnage/length ratio for builders.
The only 500.000 dwt under 400 meters, "only" 364. Must be also the widest, 80 meters wide. That would be an impressive built.

I continued to draw the stern. The pool is on the port side, on the opposite side there is a playground, often transformed into a bowling alley under the awning, with real sand.

There is an interesting overhead rail that extends overboard on both sides. This leads into a "tunnel" between the two deck houses, is this for possible removal and replacement for large engine pieces and parts?

Yes, Tom, it's an overhead crane, there's a double hatch in the center of this corridor, a small one and a large one. We use either one or the other depending on the size of the spare parts or supplies that the crane is carrying.

Doors lead to the lazarette and the cold storage rooms also in this corridor. This type of bridge crane is rather rare at the moment, a configuration with two hydraulic cranes, one on each side are rather preferred. It is much more flexible in use and there is nothing protruding along the edge.

I printed the chimney block, a staircase landing on the left is missing, my fault, I'll glue a piece of plastic card, if I'm satisfied I'll leave it like that, if not I'll reprint it.

My drawing of the Olympic Maritime logo came out well.

I'm following this build, as well. Outstanding 3D design/printing work!! This really is taking shape - it will be interesting to see how this evolves from your single ship model into .....a diorama? Will be staying tuned in, for sure!

Some progress on the chimney block, it's not finished. The color of the chimney looks good, I had to mix it. A lot of masking done, as everything is airbrushed, including the pool. I have to put a swim ladder in there yet.

Thanks for the link to your beautiful diorama, very realistic as usual, a real pleasure to watch and learn.

I had normally chosen the scene of the diorama in heavy seas, just after the storm of March 13, 1979 when the ship has just broken into two parts, but nothing is fixed yet.

Herr Von Hindenburg didn't have good luck with his namesakes! Very convincing water and weathering! Pascal's diorama will also be a challenge!

Some small progress on the engine casing and the paint. I have the low antifouling to apply yet.

I had to tinker with my new Humbrol pot color #60, it was not the same red as my old pot #60.. �

The green main deck reminds me of a photoshopped "US Airforce idea of an Aircraft carrier". The flight deck consisted of a several hole golf course complete with greens and sand traps.

We rode our bikes from front to back and vice versa in good weather, when we forgot a tool, it was very practical and fast for the cadet. And then there were a few "exits of road", the companies prohibited this practice.

I have a lot of printed parts already, almost all of them, there are some test parts too, which is a lot to sort out.

I started to paint them, I chose N�9 Humbrol for the black of the deck gear, it's a dark anthracite grey that goes well, because it's less contrasted with the rest, always the story of lightening the tints with the size of the model. The pipes are almost ready, but I still want more details.

I also painted the second antifouling. Aero touch up to do on the bow at the waterline.

I still have the white stripes to paint on the hull that indicate where the tugs should push without distorting the plating.

Bicycles are used by some maintenance types at airports, and also in the huge assembly buildings at Boeing. I can see where riding in a seaway could get interesting! In the photo of the small parts laid out (yes sorting can be interesting) the contrast in scales makes the Carrier behind look really huge!
