Hi Nick, excellent work, easily as good as I could do and in many respects-better! How long have you been modeling? I'm almost 15 and I started when I was 6 so that's 9 years....most of what I've learned though has been in the last 2-3 years...so for the purposes of comparison, how long have you been at it?

Thanks for the compliments on the poster and the model!
I actually won two awards. The other one is "Best in Art 2007-2008"

Many people use the same avatars here. The Hood badge is one of these. Its one of eleven that I drew and later okayed MW to use as avatars. The others are Ark Royal, Bismarck, Duke of York, KGV, Prince of Wales, Prinz Eugen, Rodney, Scharnhorst, Tirpitz and Warspite. I had asked for a specific gold Hood badge for myself in return for the above avatars but that never happened.

Anyway, you did a fine job making those badges! Why don't ask again for your Gold Hood badge?

I think started modeling when I was 9 yrs. old. I think it was a Titanic. I only learned photoetching and others last year when I was still 12.

yes! The best Iwo movie in existence.... your hood is look GREAT!!! and congrats on your poster award... can we see it or is it Top Secret? btw how do find time build while you are going to school... I can't

I would be happy to show the poster and it's not secret!!I usually build models in weekends but I sometimes do it on school days!

continuing the dio:
Several changes were made on the dio. I'm am planning on adding roads around the isle and a little wharf is already placed.

The roads are now added. They were made using cardboard, paper and copper wire for the posts and the lights. I really do not know if the lamps actually looked like the real ones used in liverpool by WW2.

The road was painted Sky grey and some shrubs were added around the middle of the road and it looks really good!! I think I overdid the waves but it still looks nice. The white glue actually made the water a lot better than the water before. Real rocks are actually placed around the coast. Thanks again Molders for the tip!

Some of the PE reels to be attached later..

The X turret catapult is now added and will go painting. I'm not so sure if it is in scale or not.


I replaced the decal flag with a GIF flag since the decal won't hold it's shape.

And a new modified mast

anyway...
I have 2 pics of my auxilliary fleet. Both boats are fictional

The first boat is a fictional coastal defense boat. It is scratchbuilt. It has a spare gun from the Hood, 2 pom-poms and 5 20mm mounts both from the Tamiya KGV. It also has an open bridge without any instrument

This boat is what I would just like to call a crane boat. It has a hull from a 1/700 Sheffield from Dragon and a crane made from copper and brass wire. It also has an open bridge.

For weathering the roads, you could try the same technique I used on the dock in my diorama. Having sprayed the surface grey, I got some black pastel, ground it against some rough grit sandpaper and simply rubbed the resulting pastel dust into the surface of the dock with my finger...

Just remember to keep your finger moving otherwise you'll end up with a fingerprint on the road

I have an even dumber question.
What is the color of British roads? would it be grey or blackish???

Now there's a question, they come in all different colours, black, grey, red etc...

If you go with a medium - dark grey you'll not go too far wrong.
