you did a fantastic job. I was just gearing up for my own Shangri La. My dad served on the ship from mid-45 through early 46. He was a photography mate, and has a lot of pictures and negatives with details of the ship. He was on when it had the "Z" on the flight deck. His photos show it had a Z on both ends, not just the bow section of the flight deck.
Also, earlier in its life, when in full camouflage, the 38 on the flight decks was black.
I know you are done, and as I said, your work is stunning. Just wanted to let you know. Please let me know if you need any other pictures.
Regards, Mike

Seeing how good this looks, recommend keep the weathering down to a min or not at all.
Looking forward to the final product!

Hi,
great job on your Shangri-La. I really like the smal details like the positioning lights
Have you started building the airwing? Some photos are much appreciated!

I just found your site. My father, Melvin Hundley was a plank owner on the USS Shangri la. I wish that he were still alive to see everything that is out there about the ship he spoke so fondly of. Great site.

It's a beautiful build. Shangri-La was the first carrier I ever set foot on, but as a little boy, 1963, after modernization. I've never forgotten her.
