Thanks for the words of wisdom on the primer methods.

My latest addition to my One of Each Class collection:

USS John S. McCain DL-3 (1960-1963) 1/700 Loose Cannon Producitons

What can i say about this diorama other than that it looks realistic. The work even on the smaller details is stunning. I m trying to spot a weakness on Carl builds but i can t and with every new build he adds some new feature. Cool work Carl

I agree with ya Nektarios! It's hard to believe Carl is fairly new to ship modeling and puts out such fabulous pieces of workmanship!

Here is a WIP to be added to the collection. USS Scott DDG-995 (Kidd class) It is the USS Chandler kit by DML. Some parts were missing and I've had to do some scratch building on the radar array and aft top mast and I'll have to make some compartments on the top decks, fore and aft. Some gun directors were missing, too, and I've had to use some spare replacements for them.

As part of my 1/700 Postwar USN colleciton, I have in mind a fictitious harbor diorama and I'm having fun planning/laying it out. I'm using BFM dock secitons and buildings. I envision trading newly completed models in and out of the diorama as I complete them.

I'd love to see it finished, too. But, my Navy Base Dio has is stalled, for the time being. It isn't a priority, for me, at the moment.

The Tender and PT Boats looks good on that base... it's certainly quite a dio really.

I'm starting to wonder if the water base might be too, big. There will be about 7 or 8 (only 5 if I get tired of them) PT Boats. I plan to have one PT Boat coming home to nest and a whale boat roaming about.

I have since re-painted the water and got rid of most of the greenish tint. I think that I've posted photos on the "Calling all USS Barnegat Class Seaplane Tender Fans" thread.

Hmm... that greenish tint might have served it well, considering the brown-water nature of the PTB's.

One might join the question, agreed, if the base is too big... but that's really an answer only you can provide for us, Carl - it depends on your patience, and how much you want to do with a canvas so big.

I think it looks good. Where do you plan on displaying it? As for its size... the more boats to populate it, the better it will look. I think this diorama has the potential to look absolutely fantastic, especially when you add your usual details to both boats and surroundings.
