Thank you Rick for your kind comments. Your knowledge about Fletchers is superb and I do appreciate your being so helpful with questions. I have been reluctant to post my progress of Chevalier because of the poor quality photos. If I can get some natural sunlight and take some decent snaps, I will post them under my own Works in Progress so as to not tread on Douglas any further.

I am not so sure. May be Eduard made it wrong either. I saw in Nautilus' reference CD there is a photo numbered 0545044. In it a hatch is shown with a square thing at the upper center part. It won't shown clearly whether it is an opening or a label. You are probably right.

OK, let me ask this, have you or Douglas seen any aftermarket 1/144 Twin Bofers on the market anyplace?

Ahhhhhhh...and I found the answer. At least to the 1/144 twin bofors........Nautilus has those for the aft tub. There is no photo on their website though. I did see that "Oneslim" is doing a "Nicholas" viewtopic.php?f=59&t=50542 and he has photos of that part. Looks good to me.

Misspoke here. Seems that Bob cast his own resin of the Bofers. Sorry about that Bob. Good job, btw.

Hello Steve,

I did not use any of the Revell kit parts in scratch building the 1.1 quad. The platform and base are from from an old Lindberg Blue Devil 40mm which I cut down and modified. The barrels are from the twin 20mm Blue Devil kit with the flash suppressors removed from the ends. The seat backs are very thin styrene cut to shape and curved. The rest is stretched sprue and styrene stock cut to size.

I want to photograph the 1.1 quad and the mk51 director in natural light which I hope will result in sharper images. Both look much better than shown in the fuzzy photo I posted earlier.

Ah, I forgot. I have two sets of the twin bofor and their single guns too. It is just the mouldings are difficult to clean so I decided not to use them. I left them in my office. I will get them mid next week and take some photos for you.

I was wondering how you managed to remove the kit hand rails that are molded on the superstructure without damaging the surrounding details, such as rivets? I am considering following your example and replacing these with styrene, but I think I may destroy the surrounding details in removing them. Thanks for your advice!

I sanded the rivets off my Fletcher. Decided that they wouldn't be noticable at that size. Too many things to take off and redo.

I share your concern and that is why I am reluctant to proceed. It would appear that Douglas found a way to do this and retain the details. I am curious how he did it.

Hi Bill,

Sorry to reply late.

I used a brand new blade knife, and cut the moulded rail off. I used the tip of the knife to cut the rail at rivets position. It is difficult to express in words. I will take a photo tonight to explain more clearly.

The practice loader.......... kit parts, Eduard set, and Nautilus set.

20 mm.............. kit parts, Nautilus set.

40 mm.......... kit parts, Eduard set, Nautilus set, and scratch build with Evergreen strips.

These are the Nautilus resin parts I have in hand. I think I will only use the life boat set.

I think I'm kind of disappointed in those Nautilus Resin parts also. You did a bang-up job on the Bofors.
