I made the masts from polystyrol: this was a big mistake. Again some of the rig is not straight anymore, because the plastic masts are too flexible. I replaced some stays, but there are still some, which are twisted. I recommend strongly to use metal for the masts. Ok, this advice is most probably not new for most modellers here. I had never built a ship in 1/700 with a complex rig. I had built the Golden Hind, but with are very simplified rig. The Grasshopper is my first ship with a complex rig. I had ignored this advice, because I had no problems with plastic masts on other simpler models. Therefore I thought that it will be also this time easier to use plastic. As I already wrote: this was a big mistake.

But I can recommend the use of copper wire for the rig. Most of the rig now is made of copper wire.

I also added the gaff sail boom (and its rig) and the anchors:

I will correct some smaller mistakes of the rig and the painting during the next days - and then she will be finished.

That looks GREAT! Lot's of detail for 1/700! If anyone notices your warped rigging, just tell them she took a few rounds! :lol_1: - MT

Thank you.

I will built either the 24 gun-ship HMS Lyme of 1740 or the 32-gun frigate HMS Juno of the Amazon class (1780s) (after I will finish the US destroyers USS Mustin und USS Arthur W. Radford).
