Looking good. Perhaps you should post your projrct in the work-in-process picture gallery, though.

Because the CASF section is ideally for the discussion of the real ships' configurations for the purposes of modelling; you may post pictures of your models in this section for discussing accuracy concerns, but for a general in-progress thread, please use the Picture Post -> Works in Progress section. Thank you!

Re: Calling all IJN Kagero class fans!
Hello,
1st post here. I am hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.
I am looking for the hull designation for the Amatsukaze. I have a 1/350 Yukikaze (1940) I am thinking of converting, but cannot find a picture that shows the designation on the hull.
I will have to make my own decals, unless somebody knows of some in 1/350?
Thanks!!

By designation, do you mean the ship's name on the side of the hull? If so, the drawing on this page should help: http://www.jam.bx.sakura.ne.jp/dd/dd_ca ... ukaze.html

No clue. The LR sets are prety expensive; is there something specific you want?

I was just more or less wondering if it would be a better alternative than fujimis photo-etch.

Judging from what I see, I think the Fujimi sets are pretty complete & I think less expensive than LR.
I know FineMolds makes a late war basic and extra Kagero class PE fret. Plus there's all the new Rainbow accessory frets from which you can glean funnel grills, torpedo reload gantries, bridge accessories and the like. It depends on how far you are looking to go with PE and detail.

OK well i was mainly asking because i had three LR PE sets from before the new fujimi kits came out and was just wondering. I figure the more I can add the better. but i will ask this, how do you fell about PE davits vs. Finemolds davits?

Re: Calling all IJN Kagero class fans!
Good question. For the most part, I think the FineMolds are as good as it gets. The one sticking point depends on how you plan to display your boats, particularly the cutters. The FM davits do not have any falls attached, so it's tough to hang the boats from the davits; they have to rest on deck, or create your own falls. THis is the one area that PE vesions have an advantage.
The davits for the motor launches do have falls, though only as single, thick strand. OTherwise, I really prefer the FM bits.
