What intriges me, what kind of glue are you using???....if I take a look at your rudder, no gleu rests can be found....

Hope you can tell us morevabout it, of your techniqeus behind it??

Stunning work

How do you achieve such neat PE work? I like what you did with the navigation lights- I have done something similar with lights on 1/48 planes and will borrow the idea if it is ok with you?

Also did the doors and portholes come in the lion roar set? I think they look great and really add to the detail.

Hi Anthony! The doors were included in the Lionroar set but portholes were not so I used Flyhawk ones:

Thanks, I just ordered some along with extra ladders (the hasegawa set only provides handrails for the existing plastic stairs)

Those portholes are tedious to deal with for sure, but worth the effort I think. I didnt scrape off the existing molded-on detail on all portholes, but most of them I did. the pe ones (as above) don't fit flush unless you do...

Your patience is incredible. Beautiful clean work and a very nice attention to detail! Keep up the good work.

Also: Did you have any nightmares involving portholes? I would never have the patience for that many little fiddly bits of PE!

btw how do you paint all the fittings that youve attached to the wood deck? seems tricky...

You read my mind....I just discovered this thread, and have been wondering that since I saw the pics of the painted turrets with unpainted brass on page 1!

Anyway thanks for your comments guys! Not much new, but got decks 7 and 8 on the superstructure done:



deck 7 assembled and installed on superstructure


deck 8: those japs were big on binoculars *edit* well, just noticed in the pic...there are two distinct ejector marks on the outside binocular deck, hmmm...guess nothing a couple of ammo boxes won't hide, but despite the small flaws (and the one gig one, the CAD hull) the kit fits together wonderfully so far

Hi Tim, I see what you mean about being big on binocs!

Cracking work as usual, I am glad you are going for the pure etch finish like you were discussing on Britmodeller. It will be great seeing it as your ship progresses.

Hi C-guy and Ray. hehe sometimes I think my posts are too detailed...theres quite a few pics of the same thing at times I'm afraid. But I've settled into a nice routine where I work for 2 or 3 hours and then grab a coffee ( have to drink de-caf when I'm modeling, reg coffee makes my hands shake a little bit...its true ...and then I take a couple of pics and call it done. The pics help me as well as I can see the detail almost better than I can firsthand and it allows me to make corrections to things I otherwise may not have noticed.

The superstructure of Hasegawa's Nagato has a TON of parts, but they do they fit together extremely well...this is a high quality kit and I know you will enjoy it too when you start yours.

Magnificent! The Type 22 radar looks like it's tipping back just a hair.

Absolutely amazing. Some of the best PE work I've ever seen. Totally neat and clean, not a speck of glue in sight. How do you do it!

Thanks for sharing your build with us. Though I have to say the quality of your PE work makes me green with envy when I look at mine!
