That is why i m hesitating to use this mainmast on my Perry FFGs. Its way too fragile and i too was worried about bending it or detaching although it looks great

I wasn't expecting any extra effort such as mailing anything.

I'm glad that I took the extra effort. These TDT platforms look more realistic than what I tried before. Now to try and find or make something that will look like the TDT's to put on the platforms.

(A new light bulb helped out on the lighting in my photos, too.)

I was just looking at your photo gallery and noticed. the photos of U.S.S. Mindoro and noticed that it carried two types of ASW aircraft AF-2W and S-2 at the same time. Is it in the same deployment. Perhaps CVE-120 was an ASW trials ship???

I've been advised by a veteran of the USS Sides in 1988, that she carried Seasprite helos and it/they were green like this one.

Yes, it was the same underway period. My father served for about six months on the Mindoro and road her from Boston to Norfolk. That was the only underway period that he was on.

If you look even closer (if I posted all of the Mindoro photos) one is an AF-2S Guardian and one is an AF-2W Guardian, and then the S-2 Tracker. I'm not sure if the S-2s were ASW yet, but merely cargo and transport at the time. I think they wee still pretty new in 1953.

I put a Tracker on my model. No 1/700 Guardians to be had. The Mindoro actually lost most of here armament in 1950. My Dad was on in 1953 but I thought that the model looked more cool "with" the AA guns on her, than without.

The Mindoro serviced blimps for a while, but not while Dad was on her. Blimps............not as cool.

I finished the model on December 24th. I gave it to Dad for Christmas. The new DRAGON/DML aircraft sets weren't available until after Christmas, so I left room on the model to add the Dragonfly helo and the Skyraider, later. The deck tractors came with the DRAGON aircraft set.

The SH-2 in the picture is actually Engine grey, which was the official color after the Blue color scheme, i cannot remember the FS number at the moment, i will find it and post it

I have Model Master Acrylic Engine Gray.

So, what do you think of the USS Sides shipmate that stated the helo was green?

If i m not wrong the colour is FS 16081.

I see that TESTORS Model Master's Acrylic "Navy Gloss Gray" is FS16081. I'll get some of that.

the Engine gray/Navy Gray sometimes took on a diferent hue depending on the sunlight. SeaSprites were all over the Gulf. I saw a couple that had pintle mounted Machine guns in the door way. Those SH-2s never got the glory deserved. They did so many duties in the gulf. Maybe that Sides Sailor was thinking of a AH-1? He should have been onboard when the Vincennes shot down the iranian airliner.

Yes i will agree about the differt hue it gives off, it is a weird color, whenever i used it, it seemed to make me think of dirty oily water, indeed i agree about the SH-2, a great little workhorse, they looked great in the final light grey all over color.
