All the photos are magnificent...

When will we see the final fitting out??? Are you planing to scratchbuild fittings like the windlass? Anchor chains and the rest of the forcastle detail? Ammo lockers if any?

Will there be any crew figures aboard? There are some fine ones in 1/72....

There is still a long way to go yet, I will be trying to build as much as possible.

I am researching USS HELENA CL50 but it will be at least 6 months before anything gets started on it.

Well Guys, This is the last picture, the build will stop for awhile as I am getting ID ready for our annual show at Warrington, then I will be going on my HOLIDAYS for 10 days, im heading to Lake Annecy on the borders of France and Switzerland.

Jim and Nick, I thank you for your posts, I start my holidays on Tuesday 9th sept- 18th sept,

At the moment I have lost interest in building and the site, very few are now comming in to scratch since they altered the picture post, (IN PROGRESS/FINISHED) and calling all ships, a lot of stuff is going in there, Duane is still sitting in her drydock, I might get back to it one day.

Yeah, I liked the old format better too.

there are just too many places to post your models... we are getting spread to thin...

This is my first post here and after you had so many comments on my model I thought I would check out your building.
Holy Crap, I can understand why they call you the Admiral. My only hope is I can build as good as you and Dave Wooley.
I was interested in how you made your hull. Very similar to mine except you used wood and I didn't. I wax mine for the 3 time today and have started to polish the hull. Tomorrow Release agent and I have 3 guys comming to help next Wednesday to fiberglass my Kuznetsov.
I noticed that you used wood in your superstructure, I was curious why not plastic card but maybe you feel more used to wood. Either way great work.

This year has been one long drag since my trip in to hospital in January, the virus I caught took a lot out of me, it has taken months to recover to something near like normal.

Trying to get my head around the changes to the site is for me a big thing, I have lost intrest and the drive that I had for the site, I am here every day looking in at all the scratch work going on, some fine work being produced,

Im not sure if I had shown you these photo,s before, NC in mothballs, Iron Duke ready for the show, and Duane in drydock.

How much and what kind of work is left for finishing the Duane?? Will we see some progress soon?

so Im doing things on another site to try and get my interests back.

Don't know what to say. I had a whole post ( nothing bad ) but cannot put my opinion to words with out coming across in a hostile tone.

I sincerely hope that Ron will change his mind and progress onto the Helena build. But I can appreciate that as modellers we have low points were the enthusiasm for building wanes and we need from time to time to take time out to recharge the "enthusiasm batteries" so to speak. Ron has contributed much to this site and his builds are there to see and gain inspiration from and there is much to be inspired by. So I trust our ARH is indeed recharging his own batteries and will once again bring to this board some ARH magic.

Greetings... I am very disappointed to see that the Admiral is so frustrated, but I quess it happens even to the most keen modelbuilders... I had never thought of scratchbuilding my models untill I saw the build of the Iron Duke. From then on I have been very eager on this part of our "cult" but, since my stash is already filled with many kits, never taken up on doing my own build... I quess I am sorry for the money spent on each one of those kits as well as some underestimating of my building skills.
Each one of the Admiral's builds is a modelling session only few of other people can provide, such as Mr Wooley or Mr Waldorf... I quess that the professor's pleasure is finally the excitement of his students and not the subject itself... I was very looking forward to the Helena build, since it would be the very first one I would be able to see and puzzle my mind from the very beginning. Especially due to the particular subject (the Helena is the ship that drew me into shipmodelling from a page in an encyclopedia and finally I quess that it in its way led to me joining the Naval Academy and becoming an officer of the Navy). I really hope that Admiral , sir!!! you will reconsider this postponement of the build and give some of the novices in this forum such as myself the opportunity to witness the birth of a fine model and the self esteem needed to embark on our own building odysseys... Thanks for all that you have provided us with and I really hope that I will see a new topic int this part of the forum the following months
