That sounds very probable. I found another photo of Kirishima just after completion with the same structure. However, all these structures were soon deleted from these ships.

Kajika's new Hiei as-built kit is being displayed at Shizuoka. It appears they will release all four sisters as built. Kongo PE looks good even from this distance.

Hello guys,
I've just bought a Tetra PE set for my Haruna, and I wonder what were the top decks just under the radar covered with? Was it linoleum, but without brass braces, or something else? Attached picture is a courtesy of Tetra Modelworks and shows which decks are not supplied with either braces or anti-skid pattern.

It should probably be linoleum and wood gratings, for all the 12cm/AA lookout positions.

Well, it's really a matter of deleting parts, more than anything else. Mostly radar and AA.

This is one of those cases where it may make more sense to buy the '41 kit. It comes with a new main deck that deletes all the extra ammo boxes, splinter shields, and additional equipment that is molded onto a '44 deck. Of course, if you are going to use a wooden deck, then maybe it won't matter as much, since everything should come off anyway. Fujimi did not mold a new hull, so you'll still have to drill out all the covered portholes. HTH.
