Hey Laci,
That one reel took me longer to assemble than everything else!!!!!
Thanks for the comments. I actually had some goodies show up in the mail today.
I've got my lighting for the hangar deck and various other photo etch stuff to get this build moving along.
Thanks gtbred, what have you been working on lately?

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
Continuing work on the RHIB sponson and added the second set of racks for the other RHIB. I also scratch built and added the RHIB crane. I used about 30 to 40 parts on the crane. Got a little crazy for such a small addition, but it turned out decent I think. Hopefully I can get the majority of this area done by this weekend.

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
Thanks Boomstick. I went on a trip last week to go see my 93 year old grandfather. He had been ill, but he seems to be doing a lot better now. We had a retirement party for him. Up until about 2 weeks ago he was still barbering. He served 4 years in the Army during WWII as a Barber and has been a certified Barber for the past 64 years. We guesstimated with all his years as a Barber that he has provided more than 250,000 haircuts.
I only hope that I have inherited his longevity. . . . . Probably gonna need it to finish this project!!!!!

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
Well since I can't leave well enough alone, and got ahead of myself in the first place, and even though I had already added extra detail to this area I rebuilt part of the forward starboard sponson to include the perforated deck which is how the actual sponson is on the Enterprise. I bought some photo etch perforated material from L'Arsenal USA which is excellent for this. The photos below show the removal of my other work and the new addition. I like how it turned out. I will be using this same material for the catwalks since the Enterprise had the round hole perforated catwalk as opposed to the square mesh. I've included a photo of the material in case anyone is interested in it for any of their projects. The sheets are not very big (10cmX7cm or 3"X2.75") but they are only about 5 dollars each.

Seriously nice. I can only wish I could do stuff like that.
God grant me the courage not to give up what I think is right even though I think it is hopeless.

Doug!
Seriously, stop embarassing all of us!
That crane turned out amazing, but it is almost not shocking anymore, Anything you're working on is really excellent!
Keep the photos coming, but of course at this level of detail it's not gonna be a crazy photo extravaganza every second day. (which is too bad, you're progress is music to my eyes!)
Keep on building!
Laci

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
Here are some quick shots of the RHIB deck with most of the internal detail work added, including the hull stiffeners in this area. Since the platform isn't glued in yet, I will wait to finish the small catwalks that are on both sides of the deck until later.

Absolutely marvelous detail work. Now someone needs to make a movie for it called "Honey, I shruck the Enterprise". Impressive, quite impressive. I bow my head, body, and all that is earthly to you sir.

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
I am not even joking when I say this: I am almost more excited about seeing your ship completed than mine! Seriously!
Very nice , clean work. Although, I am not a fan of adding all the detail before painting, but learning to like it gradually.
