A question for Jim Bauman. I notice amongst your wonderful collection of proper locomotives (ie: Steam and not smelly diesel) what looks like a Southern Region 'Battle of Britain' or 'Merchant Navy' Class. Would this perchance be one of the old Rosebud/Kitmaster kits of the 1960's or thereabouts or are they all Hornby etc.?I had a number of them but regretfully they all disapeared over the years. By the way I like your R/C 'plane as well. You seem to have a mind like mine.
For Seafoto: I wish I had a workbench/shop like yours I really do, and not an ironing board with a piece of ply.

My dinner table in a permanent state of modelling. It's my only table. I never eat off it. My girlfriend doesn't always like that, but hey, priorities...
The ships here are: scratchbuild hrMs Sumatra, H-P DKM Emden, H-P HrMs Z-4 and a scratchbuild harbour tug at its bows.

I was afraid that nobody would post in this thread but
I have been thrilled at how wrong I was!
Workbench, workshop, hobby room - to me its all
the same. Its the space you use to model and
its all good!
I have gotten alot of ideas from all your pics.
The only regret I now have is that I don't have
as much space as some of you have been blessed
with!

from what ive seen 99% would be shut down
but i bet they are all imune to some of todays nasties doing the rounds
globaly. A little bit of grime, dirt and dust over a long period never did anybody any harm, a completly clean and sterile world is a dangerous
one.

I thought my workbench was untidy, but some of the pictures here have changed my mind! Very interesting to see where everyone builds their ships (and other models). I wish I had the space some other forum members have (seperate areas for painting and modelling would be very handy - no more getting plastic scraps and sanding dust in the paint) but I'm at least fortunate to have a permanent workbench rather than having to use the kitchen table.
It looks I'm not unique in having large aircraft models suspended from the ceiling... though mine is a static model, not RC - a 1/18 F4U-1 Corsair, about 80% complete (and has been for the last 6 months). Other than this, the only non-ship model visible is a 1/48 Me262, but there are usually 1-2 planes on the workbench (next one will probably be a 1/32 Sopwith Camel) along with the odd tank. (I'm also a railway modeller, though in a very small way (in more ways than one) - I model in 7mm narrow gauge (O-16.5) and my layout is only 85cm square)
Larger models like the Cerberus and Fletcher (stopped work on this one until I can find the AotS:Sullivans book or a similar good reference material) are stored on shelves opposite the workbench, behind the camera. Most kits, other than a small "pending" pile (currently includes a 1/150 U-boat and 1/350 Emden) are stored in the attic.
To Ramzay - What's the ship you're working on in the first photo? Looks very interesting.
