Great progress drd. I'm looking forward to the next set of in progress pictures.

I made somemore progress on the North Carolina this weekend. I have now finished the Mk8 fire control radar, the two aircraft cats, Mk37 radar, the a/c crane, the two boat cranes, SK2 radar and started on the main mast.

In Clydebank Battlecruisers there's a good shot of Tiger showing fire hose reels and cable reels mounted in these locations. The cable reels appear to have a canvas covering them? Never saw that before

Rob - Fantastic paint work. As complicated as the hull scheme is it's the superstructure that scares the bejeezus out of me. Did you have to remove any details before laying down the Artwox deck? And other than making sure the deck is completely clean did you do anything before putting the deck down?

Just slammed the decks on, there no obstacles and it was amazingly easy...took maybe 5 minutes.

Now also done the portholes, did them with a dark grey wash applied with the tip of a wooden cocktail stick....couldn't think of anything else, but this worked out nicely. Dip stick in wash...put stick in porthole...twist...done...next. Some scary jobs turn out to be pretty easy

Progress continues on the North Carolina. I have got both the main mast and the fore mast completed so all of the major components are now built, and it is now time to focus on the small details that need to be added.

Here is how she looks today.
May 25th

All major pieces are now primed with Tamiya's Fine Gray Spray Primer.

Starting with rust, I then sprayed the deck with successive coats of sandy brown, tan, flesh, and finally clear black. I like the results and used no tape to create the patterns, they just occurred naturally and look great to the eye.

Nope! I'm still here following your build. Nice subtle detailing on the stacks.
I have been working on painting the ship's boats for the New Jersey and should have them done tonight. I have also been working on the small parts for the North Carolina which has been a pain.
Last and not least, l've been working on a small 1/350 British midget submarine and it is about done also.

I also received my Classic Warships #40 USS Independence book and spent a great deal of time looking at the pictures last night and early this morning.

I'm now working on my Flower, will do some work on the Scharnhorst next week again

Some great builds going, a bit jealous here! (saving money for a upcoming cruiser and carrier, so cant play this time).

Everything that's going on the North Carolina is now primed and ready for painting.

The New Jersey is almost finished. I have to build the helicopter, add some rigging and apply a flat coat to the ship.

It only took me nine years and eleven days to finish my New Jersey.
Now on to the North Carolina.

Progress continues on the North Carolina. I have gotten the lower hull painted red and after two painting sessions I have the pieces that needed to be painted Light Gray painteded also. I missed some spots and marred the paint on a section of the hull which required sanded and repainting.

In this state of the build she looks kind of dull.
Now on to the Ocean Gray.

I've barely had a chance to get on my computer, but I've managed to get some things done...

still more odds and ends to work on. the canvas on the bridge platforms is giving me a particularly hard time because the white glue keeps "popping...."
