The beauty of it aside, does everyone notice how, in this scale, the handrails have to be set on the bulkheads, with no spacing? This actually true of the all the grab rails as well, in this scale. Greg has it perfect.

I gotta agree. Spaced rails look out of scale. I put such on my own Ayenami build and it looks nice . But its not accurate in 700 scale. I dont think Id do it again.
Great work. Enjoying the build :)

Welcome back after vacation.

Shipyard started slowly
Main pagoda's equipment:

crew is also doing makeup ... :)

they need to put the shoes on and ready !

I decided to face the issue with 90cm searchlight. It's been used on almost all heavy ships of IJN. Box version are usually very poor in quality and details. Good ones made from resin are expensive... PE set is very cheap, looks quite nice but I need to work on it a bit more... :) Here's a prototype:

I have noticed up the failings and mistakes. Next version should looks better - I believe :wave_1:

Welcome back, Greg. Fantastic work. A quick but important note: These BBs carried 110cm searchlights, not 90cm (DD). Not sure if that's what you meant.

Hi Dan,
thank you for correction!
yes - it's 110mm searchlights of course :) I double checked the computer design - 1.60mm :)

I don't see any future problems with your P.E sets when you get to build Fuso or Yamashiro! You've gotten real good at producing your own parts Greg :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: keep up the good work man!!

Thank you for nice comments....

due to new challenge in my new job the shipyards works very slow. It will be that way for a while :mad_1:

small update...

double AA guns 25mm done:

Image

Image

middle section - after pagoda platform - started

Image

According to Miyukikai plans in '42 platform supports looked different that Fujimi proposed. It's been hard for me to confirm it on any photos.... In May '42 Kirishima was docked in Sasebo. It might be so that by this time Japanese with lifting up double 25mm AAs to the first funnel platform made also this rebuild. I have chosen Miyukikai version anyway...

Image

platforms for range finders and closed binoculars stations need to be elevated

Image

I will need to cut the edges of plastic in order to get better alignments

Image

Fujimi made great job here. I'm considering not to make any significant PE detailing. They look really good..

Image

except binoculars stations - small injection cavities must be corrected

I've just found Your thread and thought "ups, what a fantastic work for 1:350"....
....but it's 1:700!!!!!! :eyes_spinning:
Maybe it's the right moment to stop modelling. On the other hand does it help to learn and to be a better modeller one day. :thumbs_up_1:
I'd like to have even 50% of Your skills.

Hello after small break... :wave_1:

I made a mistake... double 25mm guns did not have circular aiming system. I made new photoetching and corrected the construction.

I could swear i've seen the twins with the circular iron sight i'm sure these were retractable though so still no harm done. Hell of a job with all these P.E Greg :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:
